Giordano Bruno Series 5 Books Collection Set by S. J. Parris (Heresy, Prophecy, Sacrilege, Treachery & Conspiracy)

I have just completed the first book and am now about half way through the second. It appears each book follows on so it is advisable to read them in the correct order as there are references to the previous book. It took a little while to get used to what for me was a new main character but he has certainly grown on me. I loved the Shardlake series and this is very similar although set a little later during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First. Some of the characters are real life people so it is a nice mix of fact and fiction. Very good murder mysteries and easy to read. Would certainly recommend on my experience so far and looking forward to reading the complete series.

I had finished the complete Shardlake series which was amazing and this came up as similar....it is not. Nowhere near as good. I wanted to give Parris a fair go so read first 3 of series, I cannot face book 4. The first 3 are the same, no plot development, shallow characters, boring. Over the Shardlake series the characters developed, Shardlake himself went from typical to hero over the series. Over the first 3 books, at least, Bruno remains the same as does Sidney.Well I read the next 3 books and they did get better, much better. I expected too much I think wanting another Shardlake but Bruno certainly has his moments too.

Well paced books with good detail which avoid being turgid or pedantic.

The books were a gift for a friend. I have already read and enjoyed them.

I’ve read all the CJ Sansom Shardlake books and loved them. These are good, and intriguing, but not as much historical detail.

Neat packaged set of books in pristine condition.

Love historical fiction and reading this series has been most enjoyable. I just need to order the final book, Execution.
