Strange design, doesnt fit
I have a hen that has a bald back from an aggressive rooster, in need of a hen apron. I got this one, and did like the durable cotton fabric and shape, and the size was right. However the elastic is sewn on strangely at the neck, so it criss-crosses to opposite sides. Not sure what the purpose of this is, as all the other ones I've looked at online don't have this feature. In the confusing product photo I couldn't see this. When I put it on my hen, it had a big gap at the neck and because of the crossing of elastic (making an "x") wouldn't fit on the wings right no matter how much I tried or adjusted. Also the elastic straps are way too long, leaving a lot of slack. The whole thing just slipped down the hen's side and sat lopsided, leaving her back exposed and defeating the purpose. This could have been a mistake or defective, I'm not sure. But I couldn't find the tag and didn't want the hassle of returning it so didn't. However, I did use the apron as a pattern for making my own and cut off the elastic to put on the new one. The way it's sewn it would have been hard to remove the elastic & resew so I decided to start over and do it right. It took a while, but with the straps sewn on correctly and smaller openings the new one fits much better. However I wouldn't recommend this one!

Works well - smaller than expected though
Ordered this a a trial for my girls. Our rooster has been a little too busy lately and one of my girls has no feathers at the end of her back which isn't optimal, especially when it 1-10 degrees outdoors. Fit this on my Easter Egger and found it to be a bit small. She is a bigger bird. I will be ordering a second in an XL for her and transferring this to one of my RI Reds who's more petite but also going bare.

Nice quality product
Nice quality product. I tried it on my standard size buff orphington, and would have fit fine except she tried to "get out from under it", throwing herself around on the ground, going backwards, whatever way she could move. :-)) I would like to know if others had the same problem, or just left them on to get used to, or how did they go about it. I was worried she would hurt herself.

I was expecting this to get a lot dirtier than it did.
My hens are free range so they get quite messy. My husband thought I would be cleaning this everyday but there was no need. It was. easy to put on and stayed on well. Unfortunately, I regret not getting the one with shoulder guards because now that this is on, the rooster seems to be digging into her shoulders more than before.

have not used yet
I have not used this yet for my chickens but I wish they had some directions such as how to put them on and how long to safely leave them on. They look as though they should work to protect my chickens back while their feathers grow back in.

Doesn't cover enough of the chicken & isn't secure.
This is the 2nd time I've ordered these..& like the first ones I ordered (from another vendor)..the back portion of the saddle doesn't stay in place. There needs to be some way to secure the back part to the chicken. I ordered sz L & it doesn't cover the top of the wings. It's made well & I like the thickness of the material & I received it in a timely manner.

Definitely did NOT fit our chicken and we had to ...
Definitely did NOT fit our chicken and we had to alter it so that it could not go around her neck. The apron was too small. After several adjustments it did stay on. Guess it was meant for very small chickens.

Loved the material
I loved the heavier material. I did not like the cross straps and, sadly, the one I ordered was actually too large for my Jersey Giant 10 month old hen. Traded it to a friend for something smaller.
