It's Halloween in the sleepy college town of Hallow's End and evil forces are about to inflict a scary surprise on 8 college co-eds and their haunted house. Vampires, zombies and pirates are no longer just costumes, but killers that lurk behind every door, hall and tombstone. As victim by victim is found, the corpses pile up and only a few souls survive to battle the remaining evils of HALLOW'S END.

night of terror
I received this movie in the mail yesterday, and my girlfriend and I watched it and loved it. The movie is set in a haunted house environment, like something you'd find in a small town. That adds to the whole creepiness of the setting. The acting's not as bad as everyone says, a few parts are little to acted. But the idea of everyone turning into there costume's and the story line is classic. I live for movies like this, and if you like horror movies at all, you'll love this one.

Who are these idiots writing about Stephen Cloud? Is it just him?
Cause....if he thought this was going to get him more publicity, it is backfiring. He's a crappy actor in a crappy movie. And everyone sees through the false reviews.I'll tell you the truth. This is a low budget movie with no redeeming value that I paid .50 cents for. I want my money back. The story is this, college students get together to set up a haunted house for charity. There is a dick "Dan" who bullies everyone around him, even though in real life no one would listen to this guy and my 90 year old Grandmother could rip him in two and the girl he's dating would never be around him. The aforementioned "Stephen Cloud" plays a wimp but he's supposed to be the hero I guess. He was so boring I forgot the name of the character. There are subplots involving a lesbian couple (one of the girls being the girlfriend of "Dan") which is boring and pointless. The director thinks we should care about the characters, we don't. There are no thrills, or chills. During the last 20 minutes something happens like people turning into their costumes, but the audience by that time is so bored, and the action so dull that no one cares. I seriously can't remember what happened, and I just watched it 20 minutes ago.Bad lighting, video, cheesy acting, not fun cheesy acting, but the type of acting where the kids think they are "actual thespians" type of acting. Poor non-existent plot. Low budget everything. The only two kids I cared about showed up halfway through the movie and were patrons at the haunted house. They were fun. They had absolutely nothing to do with the movie but take you away from the tedium, if only for a moment. If you want to see how wonderful low budget can be, go rent The Evil Dead. If you want to see it at it's complete worst, no production value, and full of dull characters and a lifeless story, watch this dreck.

Wonderful
Such a beautiful and magical take on horror. I was astounded at this films depth and complexity. I truly believe this is film perfection. A magnificent genre picture that is truly one for the ages.Never in my life has something seemed so perfect and elegent as this film. Poetry in motion. Absolute poetry.Highland Myst....you've done it again. On a scale of one to ten...this exceeds every little expectation I have...PERFECT!!!!

Underground Horror at its best
There are so many things i could say about this movie bu till get straight to the point. Total annhilation of Mainstreem Horror. I'm still puzzled why movies of this stature get shuned by the mpaa. Now's the time for underground / indie to step up to the plate. Hallows End had me right from the get go.Perfect use of older movies as a ref point. The whole haunted house scene reminded me of Something Wicked This Way Comes Haunted house. Excellent cast ,perfect role playing. Each and everyone of them totally made me feel the movie. At certain points of the film i actually felt like i was in the tour. Great movie!!!!! I'll have to agree on the girl/girl scene .It's refreshing to see something like that in a movie as a catalyst but not have it take away from the plot. The ending of the movie was one of the most original ending ive seen in years. Not predictable in any sense. .Caught me off guard.Serious twists and turns keep you entertained the entire time.I have a few ideas about the Redncek character basis an dhopefully ill be able to find out more on that.Bottem line for those of you wondering if you should check out this movie.By Far one of the freshest movies out there now.Other than that you'll just have to check it out for yourself /.no spoliers here.Highly recommended. I will support Jon and Highland Myst till the end. they never dissapoint me.Tracy Crockett<

A Cool, Marketable Title is Wasted on an Undeserving Disappointment
HALLOW'S END is another sour pickle from the seemingly-bottomless barrel of straight-to-video seasonal stinkers. Although the well-worn premise is general enough that it might've gone in any number of gorehound-satisfying ways (college students prepare an annual charity Halloween spook house in an empty warehouse), all is squandered as the crudely-drawn characters wander here and there, tripping over every cliché they can find while avoiding any sort of satisfying payoff the audience so richly deserves. The pacing seems off, with nothing really horrific happening for eons, and when it does, it's sometimes so poorly-lit and badly-shot, the viewer must rely on character exposition to figure out what happened. HALLOW'S END shows nary a shred of artistry in the writing, directing, or acting; the best thing it has going for it is a cool, marketable title that is utterly wasted on an undeserving disappointment.

Leading men: Gable, Stewart, Grant, Brando, Cruise, CLOUD
Stephen Cloud is the crown-prince of Hollywood's elite acting royalty, folks. His portrayal of Tom Sharp in Hallow's End is the reason why people go to the movies in the first place, in hopes of seeing greatness before their very eyes. His acting prowess and panache were showstopping, and this movie will be a Halloween tradition I share with my family for many years to come. Hats off to you, Mr. Cloud, thank you for making an outstanding movie, and let me say it is merely a matter of time before you are setting the new global gold standard for the mark of first-rate acting. Keep up the hard work, Stephen Cloud! And for anyone who hasn't yet seen Hallow's End, you must do so immediately!! You will be kicking yourself for not seeing it sooner.

Monster House
!!!WARNING. CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!Every year the small college town of Hallow's End raises money for charity by decorating an old warehouse and turning it into a Haunted House tour. A group of college students led by moody, insufferable Dan, prepare for the guests to arrive. However, a local farmer known as 'Pumpkin Jack' bring a group of props for the group to use. Amongst the props is an ancient book, apparently once the property of local Bible-basher Everett Sykes, whose own wife was a witch. The group laugh off the book's powers but are forced to reconsider when events take a horrifying turn in 'The Boneyard'....I bought this film on the strength that I had enjoyed 'American Nightmare' so much. As this had been made a year later, I was expecting more of the same or better. I really tried to enjoy 'Hallow's End', but despite some interesting plot ideas it disapoints on so many levels. For a start, nothing much happens until the hour mark. Well, unless you are buying a horror film to watch various annoying people falling in and out of love with eachother, the occasional glimpse of a pair of breasts and every five minutes or so another rant from Dan the Man.Okay, that brings us to Dan. A genuinely unpleasant character with bully, wife beater and general all round bad egg on his resume, it is pretty amazing that anyone stayed stayed past the first night to assist him in prepearing the house.Another big mistake on director Keeye's part is to introduce so many characters. Eventually he seems to get fed up with them as he kills the majority off in quick succession. Then at the hour mark, proceedings threaten to get interesting when the group start to change into the creatures whose costumes they are wearing. At first this film resembled Michele Soavi's Stagefright a little, then drifted into Demoni territory. However this development in plot is truined by a weak exposition linking one of the students to the aquisition of the demonic book.A very big letdown as I was expecting so much more from the director of the splendid 'American Nightmare'. If this is your first dose of a John Keeyes film, please don't let it put you off his films as 'American Nightmare' is a little gem.As for this film, it is a wasted oppurtunity, and I find it difficult to recommend to anyone. Bare bones DVD release with no extras. 2 out of 5.
