Valuable, conversational, realistic advice for men
This book builds very well on the original No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Glover and adds more nuts and bolts advice that helps readers put the original principles, which remain as important as ever, into practice.I very much like the tone of this book. Dr. Pariser addresses these issues in a friendly, conversational way. What this does is bolster that crucial idea of accepting oneself as one is right now. Yes, there are many lists of ideas and suggestions, which I like very much. For instance, the assertiveness formula alone is worth the price of the book. But the only things you are encouraged to change are the things that aren't making you happy, aren't true to yourself, or aren't getting you what you want. There isn't the idea found in so many self-help books that you need to transform yourself into something different. Here the formula for success is to transform yourself into yourself.Whereas the original book puts a lot of emphasis on finding a support group or a group of friends to talk this stuff through with, in this book you feel as if you're already talking with a friend. This is valuable for those of us who don't have that support group. For example, Dr. Pariser shares the details of some of his romantic experiences and that he considered becoming a professional poker player before becoming a therapist. In his descriptions of these and many other life experiences, as well as his sharing of his own inner thoughts, what strikes me is that he does an uncommonly good job of capturing the complexity of the situations and doesn't take a good/bad, always/never approach. He conveys the reality that some things really don't work, some things often do, and some things sort of work sometimes. What this gives you is that sense of authenticity you get when talking to a real person about something, rather than the prescriptive feel you get from reading a typical book. How I am using this book is to write - with pen and paper - the ideas I like best, often in my own words. This is important to me because there's more thought in that than it takes to copy and paste, or copy it down word for word. I want to make it my own. To me, that's the whole idea of the book.

Practical and Straight Forward Advice
This is the companion workbook to Dr. Robert Glover's "No More Mr. Nice Guy".This book implements the suggested exercises from that book, plus adds a whole bunch more along with further insights that are invaluable. He creates the "Hero's Journey" with this step by step guide.Highly recommended!

Builds Upon Dr. Glover's Magnum Opus
Fantastic book on how to be a recovering nice guy. I agree with 99% of everything written with only a couple of disagreements here and there.Once you become an integrated male, live life on your terms based on the activities in the book, life will set you free!

More Fuel for the path on the Mr. Nice Guy's Recovery Journey
An excellent, funny, transparent and honest disclosure about what it means to be a MNG, and great companion to the book by Dr. Glover on the topic. It's not a book for the bookshelf, but one to keep around and use on a day to day basis to build and hone practices and healthier patterns.

The "wing man" for all recovering "nice guys."
If you loved Dr. Robert Glover's book this is a must-read as it takes the basic ideas and methods and provides a blueprint for working through the most common roadblocks to becoming a fully integrated man. There are plenty of examples and exercises for the practical minded seeker.

A practical and insightful roadmap for men who are ready to take themselves to the next level.
Michael Pariser's Hero's journey is a great sequel to Robert Glover's Nice Guy-book. It gives great tools and multiple inspiration to men who are ready to deliver their A game in life and love.

My favourite ‘men’s work’ book in the last few years
It’s rare that a book like this comes along and build perfectly on an original work. Dr. Pariser has written the perfect workbook to Robert Glover’s original book while also being completely sufficient as an independent book. If there is one book you would read this year if you are doing your ‘men’s work’, this should be it. I particularly enjoyed the specificity and practicality of each of the several exercises Dr. Pariser writes about.

Not the actual No More Mr. Nice Guy
I bought the book thinking this was the actual No More Mr. Nice Guy, cause the author’s name checks out and the cover looks very similar to the original book.SCAM. Steer clear from whatever the hell this is.

Recovering nice guy.
This is life changing stuff. As I read a book No more Mr. Nice guy, I had to buy this as a follow on. It truly describes me and no it helps me "recover". *****
