Tamarisk Twig PencilsTM are hand-crafted from fallen twigs of the tree commonly called saltcedar. This tree was introduced to California during the 1820's and thrives in the deserts and other environments. Our twig pencils are natural, whimsical, practical, and have a special appeal for children and adults. They are really fun tools for drawing and coloring. Each pencil is approx. 5 inches long and 3/16 -3/8 inches in diameter. The core is a clay and wax mixture with pigment added. The core is PMA approved non-toxic and safe for children. Our Twig PencilsTM have 3 plus inches of useable core color in each pencil...over 1.5 inches in each end. You can sharpen either end with a manual pencil sharpener or by safely whittling with a knife for a longer lasting pencil, making our pencils an industry leader. Other manufacturers of twig pencils have an inch or less useable core color in only ONE end of a pencil. Each bundle is tied with raffia cord and a tag with product information. Twig pencilsTM are sold in bundle sets of seven different colors (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black) and tied with raffia cord and a product information tag. Our pencils are hand-crafted in the USA and have been since 1990. Twig PencilsTM are harvested from trees, groves, brushes, vines and other sustainable resources.
