Revolutionary terrain expansion for FS2002/2004 uses Space Shuttle data to bring true relief to Flight Simulator. This four-CD set covers virtually all of Europe as well as the USA (including Alaska and Hawaii). Because the reference points across the Earth’s surface in the default Flight Simulator scenery are a whopping 1.22km apart in most places, the topography is only an approximation of real life. Many mountains and valleys are simply lost and even lowland areas don’t look as they should. At last there’s an answer to this problem in the shape of FS Terrain, which uses Space Shuttle data to dramatically increase the surface detail by up to 16 times, with reference points between 76 and 38 metres! Featureless areas are transformed - mountains soar and valleys plunge as never before.

A good improvement.
Although it's not groundbreaking it is a nice improvement to the flight experience.

An essential add-on
The first review here put me off buying this software for a long time, yet on other sites and from the stills the software looks to do what is required in FS and actually create some mountains / valleys etc.Having now purchased and installed (with no effort, maybe I got lucky), FS Terain by Just Flight the improvement leaves me wondering why on earth I have bothered flying anywhere before.I was always annoyed that when flying around Snowdonia, Tryfan was missing as was Moel Siabod and others, Snowdon itself was a rounded blob and barely recognisable. With FS Terrain I can pick out Tryfan, the devils kitchen and the others mountains / features in the area, you can almost see, maybe by luck, the atlantic slabs where they should be. I have not travelled the whole area covered but baseing my view on the area I know and have explored in FS2004 then I would recomend this product. I would even go further and say without it you are wasting your time flying. Why not the five stars then, well, there are a couple of glitches, i.e. Llyn Ogwen is raised about 100 feet above where it should be as is Marine Lake in Rhyl and this looks slightly unsightly as well as it preventing you from low flying through the Ogwen valley as low as you would like. It seems to be a lake thing however I have only found these two to be out of place so far. I am not sure how easy it is to fix, I assume the lakes are placed manually rather than by the new data and therefore the two are out of sync, but I will try and read up on how to fix these or perhaps Just Flight could sort it out and make this a 5 star product.Quite honestly why it is not part and parcel of the standard MS offering is beyond me. Maybe in FSX the new data will be standard.I do have my computer settings on Ultra High in FS and the detail level for FS is at max.
