Handy and super accessible guide to developing a doable mindfulness mediation practice
Dawn’s new book Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners makes meditation super accessible by breaking mindfulness down to the basics. Dawn summarizes key concepts into easily digestible descriptions and offers a range of inviting entry points into creating a doable and regular practice. I also appreciate that she brings in some of her personal life experience and how meditation has helped her. Full disclosure, Dawn is my mentor so I already learn tons from her but her new book is like being able to carry her wisdom and experience in my pocket and I can tap into her teachings at any time. Love that the book is a handy size as well! There’s a plethora of guided meditations to choose from based on what you’re feeling or what your particular needs are on any given day. The instructions are simple, which is great for beginners but even seasoned meditators will find they can learn something new from the numerous ways Dawn deconstructs familiar practices to help you get reacquainted and give you a fresh perspective.

Approachable & practical guide to Mindfulness Meditation!
Dawn Mauricio's approach to mindfulness meditation is friendly and realistic. Her concise explanations gave me a deeper understanding of the practice as a whole. Her personal anecdotes made this book very relatable, and her experiences impart wisdom where there are lessons to be learned. This book is a true reflection of Dawn's mission to make meditation accessible to anyone, at any time.As a mother of 2, I had given up on the idea of regular meditation. I didn't even know if I'd have time to read this book! Not only did I finish it, but I was also able to apply her techniques immediately. I have already referred back to this book several times, and will be sharing it with my friends and family!

Practical, clear, beautiful introduction to mindfulness!
With so many mindfulness books available these days, it really takes something special to draw me in - this book is special! Offering clear practical guidance with heart, this book is not only a wonderful introduction to beginners but to those who do have an established meditation practice as well. Dawn offers 50 meditation practices here that help expand our understanding of what mindfulness meditation is all about. I especially enjoyed 360 degree breath, check it out :) I can't recommend this book enough!

Great for Beginners!
I never had the time to start reading this because of my busy work schedule but I'm glad I finally did! Picking this up was what I exactly needed in my life, mindfulness meditation. What I enjoyed in the book is how the author explains the history, benefits and misconceptions of mindfulness meditation with science and research - but somehow managed to make it engaging and easy to understand. I find this entire book well-written and fun to read as everything is broken down into bite-sized pieces not to overwhelm any beginner who is interested in learning more. 2/3 of the book is pretty much devoted to 50 mindfulness meditation practices with an alloted time frame and steps so you could do it everywhere. The book has given me a different perspective in life as I do tend to multi-task and not be more purposeful in things that I do. Would read it again!

A sampler that you can take easily on the go
I've tried meditation apps, but I've never been able to stick with one long enough to make it an internalized habit. But I know and see the benefits of a regular meditation practice, so I thought I would try a book and see if that helps. There's something anti-meditation about using digital media (app or video) to disconnect. Reading books is a meditative act for me, so I thought a book might be a better complement for me. This book gives you something to do or a mantra to repeat to yourself, but then YOU are doing the meditation, not someone else with you leading. In other words, you're guiding your own meditation rather than doing a guided meditation. So the meditation is more active -- I know, maybe I'm getting it wrong here, but I have been enjoying it. Time will tell if I stick with this format too. I also like that you're getting a sampler of different types of meditation through the book, and I may discover over time that I like one more than another. It's been helpful to do different ones because the variety keeps me in the game while I try to establish the habit. It requires only a minute or two of reading, and then the meditations can be done for varying lengths of time themselves. I do set a timer typically because otherwise, my mind wanders to the time over and over again. But other than that, I can disconnect from the world while I do this. I've also taken it with me, so I could do in the car or at the office.
