The description above says that these pillowcases need to be handwashed or dry cleaned. If you machine wash and dry them, how did that work out?

I wash mine by hand because it's easy and quick and I don't always have a load of delicates to throw it in with. I use a tiny bit of Woolite in cold water, swish it around a bit, leave it for about 10 minutes, and then rinse in cold water. I squeeze (not wring) it, then put it on a towel and roll it up in the towel. Then I hang it over a towel bar to dry. It dries really quickly.

How durable are these? If you wash by hand will they last and the seams not pull out?

I have owned several other brand silk pillowcases, band so far, this one is the most durable one I have owned yet!! I'm very pleased with it!! Seems are very well made. I have not washed it yet, am comparing this one to the higher priced ones, which had no problems being washed in the machine (FYI I use a "top loading front load type" machine, I always wash my silk pillowcases alone with the hand wash delicate cycle. Hang to dry. But compared to the more expensive one, this pillowcase is much more sturdy!!

is this 100% silk? no loopholes is the advertisement? There are other products that lure you in however are not silk and acutally polyester.....
