Great Trainer RC Plane!
It was my first RC plane, and I love it. Looks elegant, is easy to assemble if you know what you're doing. It was very easy to fly in the beginner mode, although I lost my airplane in its maiden flight. Aircraft seemed perfectly in control, and was easy to maneuver. However, it took a long runway to get airborne even after the throttle had been raised to maximum. I wasn't quite surprised as it weights little over 300 gm, heavier than most 3-CH beginner trainers. Also note that RC planes over 250 gm are required to be registered with the FAA if flown in the US; online registration process is simple and easy.

Excellent! This airplane is very easy to fly in ...
Excellent! This airplane is very easy to fly in beginner mode and will slow down more than I expected without tip stalling. The NFP system works great. Just follow the manual during setup and/or watch the videos that walk you through the entire setup. The Decathlon 350 will easily compete with any 4ch trainer type plane that horizon/eflite has to offer!! Not sure about customer support from Ares as I only emailed them a question about a different product but I received a reply the next morning. I have set up and flown several Horizon hobby/ eflite as3x safe rx planes like a few apprentice 15e's, sport cub s and super cub and one Timber. I don't have good luck with the horizon hobby customer support at all. So save some money and get a great flying trainer in the Ares Decathlon 350!!!Motion r/c has 3s 600ma admiral batteries that will fit the Decathlon 350 they are a bit more snug but do fit. I havn't had the landing gear problems yet. But that really doesn't bother me if it does as the eflite planes have their own problems to and some of them are landing gear problems. This is a HUGE value and a great flying plane and the NFP works awesome for beginners

Nice starting plane
This is a nice plane, looks great. But if you happen to land a bit heavy be aware that your landing gear might come apart from the plane. Also the propellers are not too strong, so make sure you have replacements. However, the plane not only looks great, but it flies great. The price is just right for this plane. The issues I have described here are not major and they can be easily corrected. So overall I am pretty happy with it, but enough to give them the 5 stars

Difficult to control
After spending hours preparing and practice, my son thought he was ready. But it crashed and broke on the first run. So disappointing. It was very difficult to control. Honestly, I don't know if it was lack of experience or if the mechanism is not right.

Terrible aircraft
Terrible aircraft. Uncontrollable. Take offs are not smooth and would drift to the left at times in beginner mode. Looses altitude unless you give full throttle and battery would drain quick.

Great starter RC plane. First time in the air and landing with no crashes.
I purchased this item directly from a local HobbyTown at the suggestion of one of the employees at the RC counter.I found a missing piece and a couple of other issues and returned to Hobby Town with the intent of returning the item. The guys at the RC desk immediately took care of the issues, and supplied the missing part. Their attitude was exemplary. The plane is also great. For the price it is extremely well packaged and was blemish free and assembled from quality parts. For the money, I don't see how it can be better built.Flying the plane was a uneventful if a little faster than expected. The stabilization switch saved me from crashing on one turn right after take-off and keeps thing simple for the entire flight envelope. I'm a newbie to flying RC and this is my first plane. I took off, flew a pattern and landed without crashing. I don't imagine my experience would have been the same with any other RC plane if it did not have flight stabilization. The only thing that is a possible negative is that the batter compartment only fits a certain size battery probably to keep the CG within the envelope. The bad is they are 600 ma and not in stock. However this Decathlon 350 taken as a whole is a great package for the price. I fully recommend this for beginners.

Donot buy this aircraft!!!
I have been flying rc aircraft like this one, for over 15 years now. All you need to know about this model and the company Ares who makes it is this, this plane is poorly designed, like most Ares products. I gave it a shot thinking just maybe this beautiful scale decathlon would be different. First don't buy anything from hobby town USA, once they have your money nothing else matters to them. Second, Ares is the same way, they are not willing to help the customer in any way. My advice, from experience is to stay away from this product, and its company, you will be very disappointed, and out a lot of money if you go there. I hope this review of my experience will dissuade you from making the mistake, I did, and save you money, and save you from all the disappointment I'm going through now.
