Worth more than what you're paying...
For years, all I heard was that the pentatonic scale was THE scale to use for jazz soloing and improvisation. Unfortunately, I could never unravel its mysteries and had, quite honestly, given up trying to understand its use. This book changed my entire perspective, opened my understanding and had me wishing I had discovered it years earlier. I promise that you will have complete understanding by page 14! Of course, you must practice, practice, practice, but the book has you covered with that aspect as well with loads of diatonic and chromatic exercises, applications and transcribed solos from some of the greatest names in jazz. The only downside, if there is one, is that the book does not come spiral bound, as advertised.

Consider this to be the best book written
I have several hundred books about improvisation and scale theory, blah blah blah. This book instantly takes you through how to get "outside" and into the chords and how they function in a pentatonic landscape. It's great for those who have some theory and some chord scale knowledge. It's not for the beginner, but if you're like me you'll love all the different tonal colorations that this books conveys. Its a mind-opener High Recommend this!

Answer to a player...
Ricker is from Eastman and his approach helps reed players but there's not much "breath" relief for the trumpeter. Consequently, if you're a trumpet player, you have to make your own octave or mid-octave adjustments to make a phrase complete. I 'm still using it with that approach and it does helps!

Lots of ideas and stuff to work with. However, as far as the ideas go, Mark Levine covers a lot of them in his Jazz Theory Book.

great book to learn how to use scales in your improvisations. Great resource to sound modern and not have to rely on the old cliche choices of patterns in thirds. Love it.

Not very useful
I was expecting tablature and more text and explanations. Is just full of music sheets to read. No example Mo theory nothing for that really can help to use pentatonic in jazz more than what you already can do by yourself.
