I originally bought this set as a thank-you gift for a friend deep in her sourdough era, and she loved them so much that I ended up ordering another set for myself. The size is perfect, the glass is sturdy, and the wide mouth makes stirring, feeding, and cleaning so much easier than mason jars. No more crusty threads or sticky starter cement. Both the tulip and the straight versions of these Weck jars are absolutely made for sourdough starters. The wide mouth and lack of ridges make it perfect for scraping down the sides of the jar. They are a breeze to clean. The lid can be made airtight by using the rubber gasket and fastening it all with metal clips. It can also be used with just the glass lid, which allows for pressure to escape when fermenting a sourdough starter. There is plenty of room for your starter to grow and be happy in this 1-liter jar. The only drawback is that these jars are a bit pricy on Amazon. If you're able to get them in person, you could definitely get a better deal for your money. Thankfully, mine arrived undamaged after shipping.

This is the most PERFECT jar for my sourdough starter. It has plenty of space for stirring and for scooping discard out. Scraping the sides of a sourdough jar has never been easier since there is no lip like traditional mason jars. Not to mention that the jar is beautifully designed. I don’t use the leak proof seal, but I’m positive that it would work great. They are more that worth the money. I am obsessed with these jars and will by buying more soon!

These are the best sourdough starter jars I’ve purchased. They have a nice, thick weight to them which makes them perfect for long term use. They scrape down easily after mixing and wash really well.

INFLUENCED. I saw someone making overnight oats with these on social media. They just seemed aesthetically pleasing so I gave them a try. It sounds so silly to say that but influencers do suck me with their beautifully organized kitchen and fridges. I will say I love these for storage! I use it both with the rubber and clips and without. Airtight seal with the rubber and clips. Glass is good quality and holds up well in dishwasher. Saves room in my fridge so I will be buying more in different sizes and tossing some of my other bulky containers.

Nice size. Gaskets r removable so easy to clean. Clips come off easily. These r both pros n cons as they will be easily lost in my crazy kitchen.

Muy prácticos para hacer el fermento de masa madre. Fácil para mezclar por su abertura amplia. Incluye la tapa de vidrio y además los empaques y ganchos por si quieres guardar por más tiempo. Además estéticamente son muy lindos. Los compraría otra vez.
