Easy to install and my kids love it! No more hidden key missing when you need it!
We have a door that the whole family uses on a daily bases and my wife insists that the doors to the house have to be locked all the time so the lock on that door gets a lot of use. Needless to say the lock was just about worn out and you could hear every time someone was coming in as they had to wiggle the key in the lock for 10-15 seconds before it would open. I talked to my wife a few times about getting one of these and she was against it for some reason....... I saw this one morning on Amazon in the 'deal' section at a great price (I looked at them before and most were over $110!) and decided to jump on it. I am glad I did. It was an easy install if you are replacing a similar lock. It popped right in and after a simple walk through programming it was working. The lock it-self is really smooth in operation and turns flawlessly. (We use to fight the old one....) When the door closes it is locked behind you. (You can leave it unlocked, but have to use the key provided to put it in that mode.) It was very easy to program and you can even add other codes for visitors and change them once you don't want them to visit anymore. This way you don't have to remember a new code for regular users. So if the plumber is coming you can give him a code for the that day and deactivate it when you get home and not have to change everything. Kinda, cool when you think about it. We used this feature while we were away for our friend to come in to feed our cats. The kids love it, they don't have to worry about having their key with them all the time and then using our hidden key to only not put it back. How many time have you locked yourself out of the house and go to get the hidden key and it is not there? We don't have that problem now! Plus we don't have to worry about our kids losing their key or some bully taking it from them on the bus. For me, I run every morning and use to have to hide my key outside the house every day. Running with a key SUCKS! Now I just come home put the code in and I am in, no more sweaty fingers trying to turn a stiff key. Plus this one lights up on those early morning runs. I do not know how long the battery lasts and what is involved with changing it? It came with a 9v battery. The 2 best features are: I have a teenager and when he pisses my off I can change the code, haha! and after my wife telling me how much she did not want one, she loves it and how easy it is to use!

BE careful of your holes I had to mount upside down
I still give it five stars but you might want to be aware. If your deadbolt is right over your knob. The height of this will cover your deadbolt hole. Which for me was horrifying until I figured out that if I put the deadbolt in the hole on the bottom and this knob in the hole where the deadbolt used to be it works out great and in fact it really looks more modern like the deadbolt below the pull lever is for an extended absence or something. Even mounted like this I still give it 5 stars because of the east easy setup and programming We use our ATM codes to enter. Not everyone is going to run into this problem Some of you might not even have a deadbolt but if you do and it is within 4 inches of the knob your going to have to drill another door knob hole OR your going to have to mount it like I did. UPDATE: 1-4-14 A year later and I am still thrilled with my doorknob lock. I have not had any battery issues and am still on the same battery. It has performed flawlessly. I use it about 10 times a day. I love the auto-lock and EVERYONE that comes comments on it. IT actually turns out mounting it with the deadbolt on the bottom and the knob unit on top worked out better. It makes it look even more modern. I would definitely recommend this as a quality product, a super neat useful gadget (the word gadget makes it sound cheap and I assure you it is not) It is one of the best things I bought for my new condominium and so much so I wish I had a back door so I could buy another one :-) an all around great deal.

Impressive with a few less than ideal "features"
I've used a bunch of these over the years. My Electronic Keyless Door Lock Set finally broke after 12 years (almost to the day). I would have repurchased the same lock, but it's no longer available. I tried the (less expensive) Buoan Electronic Keypad Door Knob , and it only took me a few hours to realize it was more trouble than it was worth. Then, based on reputation and reviews, I got this Schlage lock, and I'm happy I did. This lock is built like a tank. Installation was quick and easy. Best of all, using it is a snap. The buttons are large and brightly illuminated. Best of all, the lock operates smoothly. In fact, it operates silky-smoothly. And that includes both handles and the latch. As I mentioned, I used another "substantial" lock for a decade and then a budget version for a couple of days. This Schlage lock has them both beat, and the difference is amazing. Now, some things I didn't like so much... Other keypad locks I've used have the battery on the side of the door without the keypad, with a wire snaking through to the side with the keypad. This lock has its battery contained in the keypad. That means when the battery needs replacing, you must take the lock off the door completely. The good news is that the 9V battery is supposed to last for several years, and there is a clear indication of when you need to change the battery. Also, many of the electronic keypad locks made in the past several years allow you to provide external power from a USB battery for when the battery dies. Sadly, this lock hasn't caught up to that technology. The keys beep when you press them, and I wish the beeping sound was a bit louder. You can also disable the (barely audible) beeping if you like. The keys for other digital locks I've used will light when I press the first button of the combination. With this lock, I need to press the "Schlage" button first if I want the keys to light. However, Once they do light up, it makes for the easiest-to-read display I've seen. You can see an example in the photo I've included with this review. You are limited to four-digit entry codes. You can have up to 19 of them, but they all need to be four digits. After several unsuccessful code entries, the lock automatically disables itself for a few seconds. I would still be happier if it allowed at least a five-digit entry code to reduce the chances of someone figuring out the code.

Best price from overall Schlage line up. Has Schlage's auto-lock feature which discourages users to override the lock, effectively leaving door openable for non residents. Incorporate time delay buzzer in the event door left ajar.

Sin duda, este producto es barato si lo comparamos con la calidad y la seguridad que brinda

Solo das una clave y luego la borras. Muy bueno. Más fácil de instalar y programar que otras marcas. Compraría otro sin dudarlo.

We needed a lock for a tack room in a small horse barn. Instead of giving out a half dozen keys, we assigned everyone the last 4 digits of their phone number. Nobody forgets their code, we don’t have to waste $$ getting keys cut all the time. The lock looks good and has worked well for the last few months. Was easy to install, too.
