Great meter for PRO or home use
I've been in the appliance service industry for 42 years, and next to a Fluke, this has been the best meter I've owned. I work on ALL appliance types, so I need something that can measure voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, cold temps, hot temps . . . and this does it all. I carry it and use it every day and have had to replace it only once in 8 years due to no fault of it's own. A stray static discharge blew out the display, and Fieldpiece replaced it for cost of a bench charge. Highly recommend!

Perfect DVM for most applications except a beauty contest
If you own a Fieldpiece DVM for professional or personal use, these are super for virtually any type of service work. I use the Fieldpiece LT17A, which is only beautiful in the eye of the beholder LOL, but does everything from voltage (including thermocouple), amperage including microamps, resistance, capacitance, and temperature. Fieldpiece is about as hard to break as an anvil and while I don't recommend that you use it for a hammer, it might do reasonably well.If you've gotten tired of dropping your $20 DVM or having to have individual current and capacitance meters, screw up your courage and buy a decent meter like the Fieldpiece LT17A or any of the other Fieldpiece units. I like the LT17A because of its classic DVM design and the fact it is almost indestructable. Besides all of the basic features it comes with a magnetic back so you can attach it to ductwork or a motor. Also the back flips out to form a stand to keep it upright so the display is easy to read. This model is not auto-ranging but I generally know what the expected reading is going to be and so the extra bucks for auto-ranging is not that important to me. What's nice is that I can use this baby to do everything on a A/C compressor for instance. You can check voltage, current draw (including max/min), capacitance, and suction temperature. This thing is kind of the Baby Huey of DVMs and you could probably use it to chock your tire while you jack up the truck and it will probably still be running when the truck is in the junk yard.

Good meter for the price
This meter seems to work fairly well and I have only had a few issues with it. The first issue is that the amp meter accessory that comes with it is connected by attaching your leads to 2 probes inside of the accessory. This leaves the clamp open to quite a bit of interference and in tight areas it can be difficult to get an accurate reading. Another issue with the clamp is that after about a 2 months of use the clamp has some type of internal short in it where I have to press the back ends of the two leads towards each other and hold them otherwise I get a 200A reading on a 1 amp fan motor...Another thing to note about this meter isn't really an issue but more of a warning to be cautious. This meter blows internal fuses VERY easy. Make sure you look at the instructions to see the correct spot your probes should be in otherwise.. POP! The replacement fuses are annoying to find too. The only place I could find them in my town was at the local AC supply house, and its $20+ for the fuses. Things like this are what makes auto-ranging meters nice.Overall I am fairly happy with this meter. The lead storage in the back is nice and the magnet is just the right strength to be extremely useful! The meter seems to be fairly tough and durable so hopefully it lasts for the foreseeable future. If I had to purchase another meter in the same price range and wasn't looking for as many features as this meter has I would probably go with the SC260 clamp meter. But for the features that this meter offers (aside from not being auto-ranging which would make it amazing) you really can't go wrong, but you may want to get a dedicated amp meter. If you are considering this meter I doubt you will be disappointed. Good buy

Great tool !
Love this meter. Been in business for 50 yrs and have used this meter at least the last 10 yrs. Lost it and because it was so good for my application, I have purchased it again. For HVAC service, I have had about 5 different meters in my career and I like this one the best.

Field piece is by far the best meter company on the planet.
I had a field piece multi-meter for more than 25 years until it got stolen. Before it was stolen, I needed some more clips and accessories for it, so I went to the manufacturer office in orange California, and they gave them to me at no charge. If you have any issue with your instruments, they will replace them at no charge. Yes. I mean a life time warranty, as long as you haven’t abused it. I 100% recommend field piece instruments.
