a must for mushroom lover
Excellent quality and value, a great supply of porcinis that will last us probably a year. What an aroma!

No grit, very flavorful.
We've been simply rinsing, soaking them and cooking with them. No problems with grit. Very nice flavor. They taste like they were collected and dried this latest season.Bought a second bag, which had more grit than the first, but still less than most dried mushrooms. Good product.

Great Porcini
This was the first time I have ordered Porcini on line and I did not know if it would meet my expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised. They were clean, good size pieces, with a good porcini smell, and gave my dish a delicious taste. I use them in cooking when using a dutch oven to make short ribs and pot roasts and the beef gravy is out of this world with the porcini mushrooms added to the sauce. I would definitely order them again, but with such a large bag, I won't need them for a while and I keep them in my freezer and take a handful out at a time when cooking.

good quality porcini
Very tasty, good quality porcini. Not all the mushrooms are boletus edulus. Some other varieties of boletus are in there, but they are in the porcini family and very close to prime flavor mushrooms.

love these mushrooms
I researched all the reviews of other mushrooms through Amazon and decided to go with the more expensive bag. They are worth the extra money, as there is very little sand. I soak them and drain them through cheese cloth and I never have to soak them a second time. The soaking broth is rich in brown color, so you can use it in your recipe if you want. The mushrooms have a wonderful flavor and good in size. When you think about a pound of dried mushrooms, this is a good value.

Holy Mushrooms!
If you need A LOT of mushrooms then this is what you're looking for. I got tired of buying dried porcini's one half ounce at a pop. These fill the bill. They probably aren't grown by a little old man on a mountain top and hand harvested one at a time but for the price I'll take it. (Get a HUGE dry goods container to store them in)

Something to consider if location is important to you.
When pricing mushrooms, you should consider where they come from. Asian mushrooms are the cheapest, followed by North American Mushrooms, and then the most expensive of all, European mushrooms. Some websites give you a choice of locations. These are from Asia, but for an extra $5, you can purchase a pound of top grade, dried porcini mushrooms from the North America (US & Canada) A pound of top grade European Porcini Mushrooms will run about $70.

Terrible quality.
Wanted to return this product but it’s non refundable. The smell is terrible, not what I expected. I don’t think the mushrooms were dried properly as most were very soft as if stored in humid container and some had mold. I also found a lot of debris, moss and even gray/blond hair. They are definitely not light tan and cream in color AAA grade as described. Came across few that looked like they might have had dried worms as well. Nice profit from selling garbage because that’s where it went.
