Makes me want to eat more apples
This apple slicer and corer is really durably made. It slices any size apples, however, the larger ones I sometimes have to slightly bang the apple on the counter top to get the slicer to work it's way all the way down the apple. And every apple I've sliced as emitted lots of juice, so be prepared to have apple juice spurt while using this. Yes, it's spurted in my face, so I just look away once I get the slicer placed on the apple. I place the apple with the wider top part down and I slice from the bottom of the apple. I do have to pull the slices out by hand if the apple is big. The slicer gives the perfect size of slice with all of the core completely gone. The round core left in the middle hole of the slicer I have to push out into the garbage with my thumbs while holding the side grips, but there again it's mainly the bigger apples. The grips are nice and easy to hold and comfortably fit in the palm and my fingers can wrap around and grip easily. My hands do not slip when it's a big or tough apple. The blades are sturdy inside the ring holder. It's easy to wash. I hand wash my dishes, so I don't know how it will hold up in a dishwasher. I rinse it after every use with hot water and then wipe it with a soapy dishrag, and then rinse the soap. The blades are sharp, so don't wash from the bottom side. I love that the blades are stainless steel, as I think that will have a good lifespan for the slicer. The free orange peelers that came with it, are also very handy. They are awkward to use with thick skinned oranges, but the palm size oranges are very easy to peel and is so much easier than using a knife or my teeth...lol. There's not a lot of juice and the peeler gets just the skin not into the meat of the orange.

Good size for smaller lightweight apple slicer work as well as heavy chopping....
Good size for smaller lightweight apple slicer work as well as heavy chopping nearly as well as a full size slicer. The head is solid, heavy and well attached as far as I can tell (haven't really put it through it's paces yet). The blade was NOT sharp at ALL, literally couldn't cut my finger running along it. Lucky I have some whetstones, took care of that. The steel seems to take and hold a decent edge. It's a good mix between splitting and chopping, as long as proper skills are used. The hickory haft is definitely real wood, the first one I got was already chipped! I can't believe a huge chunk of wood missing went past QC but hey, that's life sometimes. Amazon sent out a new one without question of course (thank you!) The replacement I got has a solid, beautiful haft. Of course, as others have noted, there is a coating on the haft and head. I sanded down the haft lightly and plan to add linseed oil ASAP. Wrapped the haft next to the head with paracord to protect it (also looks cool and is comfortable for detail work). The blade cover is a useless silicone, already getting cut by the blade. Better get a real cover! Overall 3/5 because of the chipped handle, the terribly dull blade and the terrible coating on both haft and head. Compared to other apple slicers I've seen at this price, it's a good deal overall. Get sandpaper and whetstones, folks.

Does the job
Cuts really well. You do have to use a bit of force so I wouldn't say it's like a hot knife through butter, but it does work pretty well.Sometimes difficult to get off the apple as it won't quite go all the way through. I usually have to push the core back out. And it can be hard to align the apple so that you are indeed getting the core and not going sideways.Much quicker and easier than using a plain knife, though. My daughter and I have started eating apples a lot more often now that we have this!

Does the job
I needed an apple slicer. This one works well, it's a little difficult to press onto the apple but other than that it cuts it pretty well. Sometimes the pieces get stuck though and I have to press it myself which isn't safe due to the blade. But it was nice to get the free gifts as well, I'm still working on how to use them though.

Cut your apples fast and easy!
Excellent product! I have nothing bad to say. If you are looking for fast and easy way to cut your apples, I would definitely recommend this apple slicer. Everything was exactly as advertised. Below is a small breakdown was what I liked and didn't like.DIDN'T LIKE:* Color combination (I would have preferred red and black. My favorite colors, but this is just me being picky. Actually it was very difficult to find something I didn't like about the product)WHAT I LIKED:* Sharp blades* Durability* Design* Ease of use* Great price* Easy clean up* Compact size* Easy to grip

i do not recommend
The more I use this product the more frustrated I’ve gotten, I’m going to throw it away and find something else, The concept, of course, is great but the design is terrible. The blades do not do all the way down to the cutting board because the rim of the plastic ring that holds them protrudes below them. So, you cut the apple slices, but everything is still attached by about 1/4 inch at the bottom and you then have to pull them all back through the blades and cut through the last bits. Pretty dumb. Right now I’ve gone back to my old corer, which requires me to do the slicing but it is easier to do than dealing with this thing. Plus, the cuber does not go through butternut squash or sweet potato or hard things. I never used the mango attachment so I have nothing to say about that.

Handy tool! Amazing!
This item works exactly as described!! It cuts any size Apple perfectly! Little force is needed, and there is very little mess at all! I bought this item specifically for coring apples for my smoothies, and this does just the trick! The result is exactly as pictures here! I couldn't be happier with this handy little tool, and recommend to everyone!

Plastic will break, only a matter of time
This was the second plastic apple slicer to break on me. Its a hazard. It sliced into my palm when it broke. I have moved on to simply using a kitchen knife to slice apples, really not much more effort and safer imo.
