Cookies for the kids!
I have had so much success with Hallie's first book "The Pure Kitchen" and her Daily Bites Blog, that I purchased this book the first day it was out. I have two gluten free girls ages 9 and 11. The girls and my non-gluten free husband want to eat the Standard American Diet, but I keep working on them. Slowly, I am having success. I have been looking for something like this to give the kids something they could eat, like their friends but healthier. One of the girls cannot also have the refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup or food dyes and one of the girls is dairy free. The first two batches were a hit. One girl wanted the Chocolate Mint Patties and the other one wanted Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey cookies. Of course, one doesn't like mint and the other doesn't like peanut butter or bananas. So, I made both cookies to make each girl happy (just this first week only!) Both turned out great and they will eat both cookies. (My oldest did give the standard "yuck" when tasting the peanut butter banana honey cookie, which I was impressed she was even trying since she requested mint. She proceeded to eat the whole cookie and went back for seconds. Tweens!) The girls are still excited about the cookbook and trying the different recipes and I am happy to be able to feed them something fun with good ingredients for their bodies. The girls dance every day, so they also need the extra calories.Hallie uses the same base ingredients for the cookies, so it was all in my gluten free pantry. The recipe instructions were also clear and easy to follow. Now, I am ready to go back for seconds!

An impressive and delectable cookie collection!
I am completely delighted by the impressive and delectable collection of cookies Hallie has compiled in this book. She utilizes so many of my favorite ingredients - nuts, seeds, coconut, whole [gluten-free] grains and flours, palm sugar, maple syrup, fruit, chocolate, and many more - and clearly has a knack for crafting handheld treats that are both nutritious and delicious. Her Apple Oatmeal Pecan Cookies are like tender little caramel apple pies in oaty cookie form, and her Chunky Monkey Cookies are outrageously tasty and multitextured morsels that made my apartment smell like banana bread while baking. Hallie doesn't clog her cookies with gluten or dairy, and the majority of the recipes in the book are completely vegan (and nut-sensitive folks could even usually replace the nuts or nut butters in her cookies with sunflower seeds or sunseed butter, respectively), so there's truly something for everyone in here. I've bookmarked more recipes than I can count, and it's such a treat (literally) that they're all made with natural and unprocessed ingredients. No, they don't taste exactly like white-flour-and-sugar-based cookies, but they shouldn't! Rather than being sickeningly sweet, Hallie's cookies are wholesome and inventive but still sweet enough to tickle your tastebuds. Consider me a huge fan!

Nope
Bought this in 2013. Tried it then and didn’t like any recipe. Tried again in 2020 with same results. Now am donating book to local library sale.

Love the recipes so am I being pedantic over presentation.
My hubby is a celiac and I am a big fan of Hallie's GF cookie recipes on her blog so I was very keen to get her Super Healthy Cookies Book. Just got it today and love the look of the recipes however two little disappointments that are not related to the recipes but to the presentation. The are eight only photo shots of cookies that are in black and white paper print. I know you can go on-line to The Virtual Bakery for some of recipes in colour, but honestly who wants to do that. One of the attractions of a cook book is the beautiful colour shots of food or baking. If it was down to costs I would have paid more. And the second niggle is all the oven temperatures are in Fahrenheit and as a lot of countries work in Celsius like me, I would have liked to have seen the conversion of Celsius in brackets. As it is, I have to look it up.

I love the recipes so much, I give this out as a gift. Nibbly oat cookies are a family favorite. Carrot cake bites, chunky monkey, and the baklava recipe are fabulous, too. Great, wholesome recipes!!

Healthy, Delicious Options!
After ordering this book, I begun to second guess myself. I have so many gluten free cookbooks. Did I really need one dedicated to cookies? The answer is a resounding yes. This book is filled with healthy, delicious and easy cookie options.Flipping through the book, I have already bookmarked a number of recipes to try. This book offers many options for those looking for dairy free, eggless (about half have no eggs), refined sugar free recipes. Note that the recipes largely rely on maple syrup, honey and dried fruit to sweeten them. Many of these recipes rely on nuts/nutbutter so I would not recommend it for those with nut allergies unless willing to substitute. My favourite cookies so far - the Chunky Monkey Cookies! These cookies are like banana bread in cookie form, and the combination of shredded coconut, banana and cacao nibs made them irresistable to me.

Truly healthy GF cookies!
Excellent book, tasty recipes without the usual gluten free junk. These recipes are truly healthy and use clean ingredients. As a mum with gluten intolerant children I can let them have cookies without second thoughts.

Great Recipes
These cookie recipes are fantastic. The recipes are easy to follow and all the cookies are scrumptious. The only thing I wish the book had was more pictures.
