NOISY BUT AWESOME!!
I purchased this as a "cheap" mechanical keyboard for the office. It has now replaced my $100 Logitech G710+ as my primary gaming keyboard at home. Let me say this -- I did a LOT of research before pulling the trigger. I needed it to be wired, mechanical, tenkey (fullsize) and best of all.. cheap. The colorful RGB LEDs for an extra few dollars were the icing on top. However, there are a lot of quality boards for around $50 and I wanted to be sure before I made the investment. With that said.. I could not be happier. The LEDs are beautiful, the different programmed designs are fun (FN+Insert to change them) and the switch response is stellar. I would say it's about twice as "hard" to hit as the 710+ switches but the feedback is more than twice as nice and it truly isn't that bad. THIS IS VERY NOISY. I repeat... NOISY. If you have never owned a mechanical keyboard before you may be very surprised at how much noise they can make but this one is NOT good for a quiet office. This played a part in my decision to keep it at home and bring the 710+ to work, although not silent either it is much quieter. AVOID THIS KEYBOARD IF NOISE IS IMPORTANT TO YOU! With that being said, I would say this keyboard is AT LEAST built as nice as my Logitech model. Time will tell as the 710+ is as good today as it was years ago but so far, this KG010-R is incredible for the price. Also worth noting -- you can use the FN+F1-F12 keys to use different shortcuts like play/pause/stop/vol up/vol down/LED brightness/etc. Do not worry if you're like me and had to sacrifice those functions from your previous keyboard. These global hot keys work great! Oh, and be sure to enjoy the show when you first plug it in. My girlfriend wants me to buy her one now!

Great keyboard. Would definitely buy again.
This was a pretty phenomenal keyboard. I have 2 mechanical keyboards, one being a Ducky one tk, and this is the other one. If you are looking for a budget mechanical keyboard, this is it. I would pit it against a lot of keyboards costing twice as much. The construction is super solid and it feels like you could take this keyboard into battle and beat people over the head with it, then come home and finish typing your essay. If you are switching from a rubber dome keyboard, you will not notice the difference between these mechanical switches and cherry switches. I almost gave it 4 stars because at one point, my 'P' key would only work intermittently, but for some reason that seems to have fixed itself. For the money, I would say this is the best keyboard you can buy bar - none. If you plan to use this in an office or somewhere where people are doing things and don't want to hear the keys, make sure to also go over to the hearing protection and buy some industrial grade ear protection because this thing is loud. It did not really bother me at all that it is loud, but for some people that may be a concern. You may have heard cherry blue switches before and thought "These aren't too bad", but listen to me saying: this is the loudest keyboard I have ever heard, let alone owned. If you decide to buy this, you are definitely in for a treat. The keycaps are also not bad at all. They are ergonomically designed and suit my hands great. There is minimal wiggle on the caps as well. However, they are slightly thin for my liking (My Ducky keyboard spoils me with the thick PBT keycaps). All these are just minor things thought really and I cannot complain about that for the money you pay for this. Fantastic deal, would recommend buying so long as you are aware of the loudness of the switches when typing.

An almost perfect jack of all trades only barely hampered by oddly clacky keys
It's a fine enough keyboard, and the Outemu Blue switches, while good with above average resistance (at least compared to most rubberdome keyboards) make a higher pitched click than I had initially hoped for. As someone who does most of my work and gaming at a keyboard, the sound can get kind of repetitive and annoying. I have not yet tried adding O-Rings, and I might update this if an opportunity for that presents itself. Keyboard noise seems like a bizarre thing to take umbrage about; it's almost petty. But the fact stands that the noise the keys make is A) part of the reason we buy a mechanical keyboard to begin with (anyone who says otherwise is lying to you and themselves), and B) a thing that, win or lose, we have to live with for the entire operational life of a keyboard (which in the case of a well-made mechanical can be DECADES). The sound these Outemu Blue Switches used in this keyboard make is just sort of odd in a way that's very hard to describe. First, some basics: Outemu Blue Switches can be viewed as a sort of off-brand or "over the counter" version of the much more well known Cherry MX Blue, which is a style of mechanical switch much desired by both gamers and authors for durability, reliability, and a sound that just sort of... motivates you to keep typing. These are not those. These have, as I've mentioned, a higher pitched "click clack" sound that just isn't... I don't even know how to quantify sound. It's not a satisfying, full bodied noise that gives auditory purchase to each keystroke. They're PHYSICALLY close to Cherry MX Blue though, and so I think they're good enough. As an affordable mechanical keyboard solution that doesn't break the bank like a more desirable Cherry MX Blue board might, the EagleTec KG010 is actually quite nice-- I feel the physical benefits far outweigh the auditory drawbacks. Key strikes are clear, the keys themselves are nicely made and feel superb; even with my much-harder-than-average keystrokes (I tend to seriously slam down on keys when I type -- I am not a gentle typist). The numberpad is easily the nicest I've used in over a decade, which should be advantageous to anyone who works in an office and is considering this for any reason. The backlight is clear, but not too bright, and won't hurt your eyes no matter your lighting conditions; it's strong enough to illuminate your keys without illuminating your face, which is a problem I've had with other budget keyboards boasting of backlit keys. Furthermore, it's a fairly compact design that doesn't demand wide open pastures of desk space. Honestly, if only the keys sounded a little deeper, and slightly less clacky, this would be a straight five star review. I'll also admit the caveat that you're probably not going to find something on the level of an old IBM M Series keyboard for anything less than twice this price. I won't abandon my hunt for a perfect keyboard, but I'd have to suffer serious brain damage to throw this gem of a budget keyboard in the garbage. It's too nice for the price to ever completely abandon, and I suspect that it will find uses for one device of mine or another for years to come. Well done, EagleTec!

Sturdy, bright, Clickety-clackety!
EDIT: I bought this keyboard in 2016. It is now February 2020 and it still works, is still sturdy, and has given me no problems at all since I purchased it in 2016. It has taken a beating in the last 4 years and is still going as stron as it was the day I got it. These are really great keyboards. ORIGINAL REVIEW (2016): It is not a quiet keyboard, so if you're looking for something very quiet, you probably shouldn't buy this one. If, however, you are like me and you absolutely love the clickety-clack sounds of the keyboards from days long gone, then this is a great alternative! it feels sturdy, and has good weight to it. I'm convinced that my ex-girlfriend could clock me over the head with this keyboard and only my skull would break. (Guess it's good that she doesn't come visit!) The LED lighting is very bright! But can be easily adjusted or turned off completely. The "Breathing" effect (LED lights fade off then back to maximum brightness repeatedly) doesn't really seem to serve any other purpose than for aesthetics, but if you like flashy blinky lights then I guess it is pretty neat. I bought the white/aluminum version. Thus far it is probably the best keyboard I've owned since my first computer back in 1987! (Yep, I'm an old dog!) The keys are sturdy and do not wiggle or move around in any manner other than the way they were intended to move. They seem to be well made, and i do not believe that fading will be much of a problem. If, however, the key caps do fade or get damaged, they can be easily removed and replaced with pretty much any "Cherry MX compatible" key cap. You can find replacement and customized key caps from various places around the internet. you don't need any special tool to remove them. I've been able to pop them off with just my fingers. The arrow keys have W, A, S, and D printed on them as well as the arrows, and the W, A, S, and D keys also have arrows printed on them as well as the letters. This can be useful for gamers. The F and J key, as well as the 5 key on the numeric keypad have small protrusions on them as many keyboards today often do. This will enable touch-typists to set their fingers over their home keys without needing to look at the keyboard. All in all it is a pretty good keyboard. I loved the old IBM keyboards and for me, this one really brings back the clickety-clack feeling of typing on one of them.

Great keyboard for the money
This keyboard is substantial. Love it! It's not some lame plastic toy like what comes with most systems. It has a metal platform with honest-to-god mechanical switches under each key. When you set this thing down on your desk, it stays there. Got a troublesome boss? Get one of these and you'll have the tool you need to take him out right under your fingertips, literally! Joking aside, the switches can be a bit loud, so I got one of the o-ring kits. That helped a lot. It doesn't reduce the "click" of each switch (nothing can be done about that), but it does reduce the "thunk" of each key hitting the bottom of its travel. Not that the noise bothered me, but I didn't want to wake the dead with my late-night coding forays. The design makes it really easy to clean too. Those Doritos crumbs can't get into the switches to muck up the works and all you have to do is dump them out. No more banging my keyboard on the trashcan and/or cans of compressed air! I got the black version with blue lights. I wasn't really interested in the rainbow colors. I just want to be able to see the keys in low light. This keyboard surprised me with quite a few lighting levels and options. If I had to pick a nit with it, it would be the Starcraft font on the keys. Not really my thing, but meh. Not really a big deal either as long as I can tell which key is which. Seems to be a thing with a lot of keyboards like this, so this isn't unique to this brand/model. Not taking a star for it. Other than that, this keyboard is perfect. Based on the ratings for the switches used, this will probably be the last keyboard I'll ever buy. Maybe I'll will it to my grandson because it'll likely still be going strong long after I'm gone.

Perfect Entry-level mechanical keyboard
This is an amazing entry-level mechanical keyboard for enthusiasts and casual typers alike. This keyboard holds up a hefty price, but this is one of the cheapest mechanical keyboards on the market, and it is great to get started with. Pros: -Very responsive, satisfying, and tactile key feedback that you have never experience with your regular laptop/office keyboard -Long cord (will work for almost any desk) -Bright LEDs for night time browsing (with brightness adjustment and off setting) -Ability to switch WASD and arrow keys when doing tasks which would normally require moving your hand to the D-Pad for -Nice brushed aluminum, premium finish Cons: -Keys are very cheap ABS plastic, some keys have rough edges at the base (Discovered while cleaning, not an issue with day to day use) -LEDs in some of the keys from time to time go dim, which bugs me personally, because I always have the LEDs enabled Neutral: -Numpad for office entry -Rectangular enter key (Appeals to most, but for others is a nuisance) -Lloud keys. -Very loud keys -Did I mention how loud these keys are? -Seriously, they sound like a typewriter. -Don't bring this into your office. -You don't want your co-workers bashing you in the head with coffee mugs. I will hand it to EagleTec on this one. Never has a keyboard been so nice to type on. Mechanical keyboards aren't for all, but they definitely relieve fatigue. I'd highly suggest you try one out, and pick this one up for your first. NOTE: This keyboard contains one of the absolutely loudest key types, so if you're looking for a stealth keyboard to bring into the office or school, this is not the one. (Outemu Blue switches)

Not a gamer... but I type A LOT!
This keyboard is very nice, especially for the reasonable price. I was using a Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard and a Curve before that and the letters kept rubbing off, the keys would get slippery and the sensation was nothing special. I type A LOT... not a gamer... but use my computer for typing long reports (20 - 30 pages on average). I need something that can withstand that amount of work, is pleasant to use, and this keyboard so far fits the bill. The blue back-lighting under the keys is nice and the fact you can swap out keys if needed is great. The clicking is kinda loud, but I like that... so it's a matter of personal choice and preference. The feel is nice... not too much resistance, yet not feeling too light. The only thing negative I can say is that it is taking me some time to get the capital letters to come up capitalized on the first try. It seems my pinkie is not pressing hard enough on the Shift key... but I think that is more a conditioning and getting used to a new keyboard issue with me, rather than a fault of the keyboard. The shift key works fine... my fingers are another story! I also have a history of carpal tunnel, so will be curious to see if this makes a difference in relation to discomfort one way or another. Only other issue is I would advise using a wrist rest for proper positioning. My MS keyboard had one built in and it was useless; still had to use an additional one which made me have to move the keyboard way back which was not comfortable. With this keyboard, a wrist wrest fits well and works great. Also note: this keyboard does not come with a key puller. To me, that is no big deal. Overall, the keyboard is nice and I believe it was a good purchase.and would recommend it for someone who likes the "click, click, click" of the old "tactile touch" keyboard of yesteryear or the sound of a typewriter. If you enjoy silence, you will not like this one. I would not go back to a "soft, quiet" keyboard again... now, I'm spoiled!

Wow this keyboard is fantastic!
I really like the way the keys feel. They have the same feel as my good old 1980's ps2 IBM keyboard with that click feel and the sound. I am a software developer and use this keyboard 8+ hours a day and am on week two of using this keyboard. This is my second modern mechanical keyboard. This one feels much better than my 1st player - black.sir that I bought which started having space bar, control and shift key issues after a less than 6 months of use. The keyboard is designed so that you don't have to worry about getting stuff lodged up under the keys with an open key design. Few spurts from the dust off and your good to go. The keys have that tactile feel with that springy click sound to let you know when the key has registered. The keyboard is heavy and seems well built. Looks are modern and stylish too with blue LED lights (although my desktop has red LEDs, but that's my problem :P ) I am not a gamer, but my kid is and he said that this keyboard has really good keys for gaming in comparison to his Razor "mechanical feel" keyboard (not sure what model). Hope this helps others, I am not affiliated in any way with the company selling these. Just a happy camper!

Fantastic value
Given the price, I was expecting there to be something disappointing about this keyboard, but I'm absolutely thrilled with it. It feels great to type on, and it works great so far. I picked up the Blue LED Backlight version to use at home, and the Black (no backlight) version to bring to the office, and they're both great. The metal body gives this a very sturdy look and feel, and is quite eye-catching. It should be quite easy to clean, given the way the keys protrude up from the keyboard. The keyboard comes in a brown box, with a large sticker on the front to indicate which keyboard is inside. It's a very wholesale-style package, but I certainly don't mind that they chose not to waste money on a glossy box. As for nit-picks, the font they used on the keys for the backlit version definitely wouldn't have been my first choice, but I knew exactly what I was getting from their pictures, so I can't really complain about that. The non-backlit version has a very clean and classy look to it, though. I also find the WASD written on the numpad keys to be a bit unnecessary, but I guess some people might like it. The plastic portion of the USB connection is also much longer than I was expecting, but you'd have to have a pretty cramped setup for the length of the plug to cause issues for you. All things considered, this is a great keyboard, at a fantastic price. If you're like I was, and you're looking at this keyboard and wondering what the catch is, I feel I can say fairly confidently that you'll be pleased with this purchase. It may come in an unassuming brown box, but there's nothing cheap about the keyboard inside.

its a great mechanical keyboard
For the price, its a great mechanical keyboard. Just take care in purchasing it if you don't like loud keyboards- blue switches are LOUD. If you're playing online, I might not recommend it, as your mic will likely pick it up.

Excellent RGB keyboard, especially for the price. Must Buy!
Blew me away. A solid, beefy feeling metallic frame that contrasts wonderfully with the RGB lighting. Satisfying mechanical keys that work like a dream and makes writing on the PCs at work feel awful by comparison. An unexpected benefit of the RGB is that the breathing profile is really good for typing in the dark and helps me to more effectively self moderate when it's wise to go to bed and when to stay up for another hour working on a script. The only ding I would give it (and not enough to take off a star) is the key combinations to switch RGB profiles are a bit tricky to master. Not just hunting them down on EagleTec's website, but the timing involved is pretty sharp... definitely a learning curve. Twitch gamers may disagree, however. At the end of the day, this is an amazing keyboard that feels like it should cost $200 CDN at least.

Exceptional - Price on Point
I can't believe the quality on this inexpensive keyboard. The top is cold shaved steel, very durable, stylish and doesn't look or feel cheap. The keys feel amazing, the click'clack is definitely there and the look of the keys and the font they used are definitely okay - nothing crazy but certainly good for what you're paying for. The LED illuminates really well but much of the light bleeds out from under the keys which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The feet on the back and the back of the keyboard itself is probably the area that could use the most improvement - it is all plastic, it looks great and still feels durable but the feet could be a little more solid if I'm going to be super critical. All in all for the price you can't do any better that I've seen and it matches keyboards I've tried at double the price. Don't feel apprehensive at pulling the trigger if you're looking for a decent, aesthetically pleasing and reliable keyboard.
