Perfect portable yarn winding aid
It’s easy to use and relaxing to work with. I enjoyed winding the leftover of these showing of yarn into yarn cakes. Looking forward to working on more.

Yarn Valet Great Help!
I had never seen a yarn ball winder like this, but looked like it would work well. I had a hank of yarn that came from the company that was so tangled when I tried to wind it into a ball on the yarn swift. I put the hank of yarn on the swift and turned it till it came to a cross-over piece of yarn. The yarn valet worked so well at going in and out of the tangled yarn. My 12 yr old niece loved untangling the yarn. Took her only about 30 minutes. I would really recommend this to anyone. This is the second hank of yarn that has come tangled, but from different yarn companies. That doesn't count the skeins that I get tangled, when dyeing yarn. Think I'll get lots of use from the yarn valet.

Basic in all the right ways
I like that you can be clumsy with it, not that you will as it has a great grip and a stash spot for a Turkish spindle.

So cheaply made!!! I would not take this item again if they offered to give it to me for free.
This item would be best used by a drunken octopus. I found it awkward to try to keep the tail of the yarn in the grooves made to hold the tail of the yarn. It also hurt my hands to use as it was much more work than pulling from a skein in the first place OR just hand rolling my yarn ball like I used to use.It frustrated me immensely, to the point that I tossed it in the recycle bin. There are some AWESOME yarn winders out there on Amazon, but this one is NOT one of them.I have since found a WONDERFUL yarn winder made by Knit Picks that I recently reviewed on Amazon. Please search my recent reviews if you want to see my comments.

Decent yarn winder.
I purchased this yarn winder thinking that it was going to be a great cheap alternative to buying an electric or manual yarn winder. I think using this item is about as equivalent to winding yarn around a large knitting needle. The storage inside is nice, but the cap gets in the way when trying to wind so it becomes a nuisance. I think this is ok if you have trouble keeping the center pull in place - this winder has a notch at the top that holds it which helps. It also comes with a card with instructions to a website that have videos on how to use it if you need help.

Handy little tool
Although it does take a little while to hand roll your yarn but this makes it’s super easy and simple!

Great product, exactly what I needed.
I ended up buying this on a whim after looking into how to ball yarns with a center pull. It's a really simple product but it's exactly what you'd hope for! The texture on the winder allows the yarn to stay in place so the ball doesn't slip off and go flying, it's a good little storage container for at least 5-10 crochet needles [without cushions] although I don't use it as such because I don't like the rattling [but that's just me]. The cap tends to slip off while I wind but I don't have a problem with that, so I just take off the end and set it aside while I do my winding. All in all, this is exactly what I wanted. :)

Not very useful
I didn’t find this valet very useful. The yarn wouldn’t catch in the slots at the tip to start winding it properly and I’ve tried several different weight yarns, ranging from 3 to 5. The valet itself isn’t long enough to fit all crochet hooks or knitting needles, especially if you’re using Tunisian to make an Afghan. I just couldn’t justify the value for the price. It’s not a practical valet. Maybe if it was a bit longer, wider and the notches on the end actually held the starting yarn in place, then I’d give it an extra star but that’s about it. It feels like it’s for a child that’s beginning to learn how to crochet or knit. I gave it 2 stars because I like the idea but the execution is lacking.

Disappointed
This should be the simplest tool to use to create a yarn cake but it's deceptive. I'm supposing the grove on the top is to hold the yarn in place but it's not very deep and my yarn wants to slip off, very annoying. (I think I'll resort to taping or rubber banding it in place) It helps to lock the yarn start into the bottom end of this winder (thank you previous reviewer for the tip). This isn't great for yarn that have a slip factor and if you do have a slippery yarn, best to be sitting with back straight or standing, because you'll need the arm reach to be able wind evenly. So this looks incredibly straightforward, but for me it isn't the greatest. If you don't need a center pull ball of yarn, a paper towel or toilet roll core works too, and better for those silkier yarns.Three stars, because it does do what it claims though it will task your patience. However, design improvements of both ends are needed. I might ask my hubby to but a grove into the end of a dowel (or cut wood broom handle), it probably wouldn't frustrate me so much.

Easy to Use
I like the end cap so I can secure the end of yarn in it and it isn't flopping around as I spin the yarn. Wish it was a bit bigger so it could easily handle the 10.5 oz Bernat blanket yarn. I still make it work though.

I was disappointed in the product!
I probably misread the information regarding item. I was somewhat disappointed in the product. I am not sure I know how to operate it as there was no instruction booklet. Perhaps I will invest in a more sophisticated one at a later date.
