Good value and a superb performer: Far better than Desmond
As a well-known pro, I recommend a variety of brands to my workshop attendees and students. Fair value, good quality gear and companies that stand behind their photography products are key. When it comes to monopod heads, it can be a challenge when you have an ultralight carbon fiber monopod and wish to pair it with a 90-degree tilt head that can weigh as much as the monopod itself. Although I own both Benro and Sirui carbon fiber tripods and monopods, I compared all the major players for heads. I first tried the Desmond but learned it moves sluggishly and is dramatically heavier than advertised by 149%. When I inquired about the sluggish problem, customer service was rude and of zero help so back it went. Enter Benro, a company I respect for both quality and value:This head is well-built and moves smooth and perfect as you change your shooting angle. When action moves fast so must the ability of your monopod head to move in sync with your hand-eye coordination. At a light 8.4 ounces it fortunately does not overwhelm the balance of a carbon fiber or aluminum monopod. I have been testing this Benro with the Sony 100-400 along with 1.4X teleconverter and it is smooth and capable. Its downside is that it can’t easily handle the support the heaviest telephotos such as 400 f2.8 or 600 f4 as adeptly as a more robust monopod head such as the heavier and more expensive Sirui L-10. For me this head is the perfect balance between robust strength, weight, and ease of use.Of these two similar Benro heads, I do recommend the DJ90 since it comes with a standard Arca plate to match most other brands. The DJ80 matches Manfrotto only.I bought my first Benro carbon fiber tripod in China 14 years ago after being blown away by its then great price and build quality in a camera store in Chengdu. At the time Benro was new and not yet even exported to the U.S. So, when I returned home it was quite the conversation piece among my jealous foto friends. Benro was then gunning for Gitzo’s market at one-third the price. Now Benro is highly regarded and its diverse range of products for pros and serious amateurs has truly found its niche. Having used plenty of Gitzo equipment during my career, I personally don’t care about prestige although Benro continues to build a good reputation. This head is a clear high five and just right for my use, either at home or packed for an international assignment. Another plus is Amazon’s full 30-day money back guarantee so you can test it to be sure it meets your own needs.

OMG IT TILTS!
Works well. It tilts. Sturdy. I bought an extra plate since it's a non-standard size and this allows me to swap quickly to a 2nd body. That is all.

Simple in design and operation ...
The DJ90 head is constructed with high grade materials with reasonably tight tolerances. It comes with an arca style quick release plate and clamp. It's designed to work with any standard arca style plate on the market, my existing plate fit perfectly. This head does not do everything a full ballhead would do, but on a monopod, a full ballhead is not necessarily what most photographers need. This head provides two basic functions ... attaching your camera quickly and safely to your monopod, and, allows you to change your camera from landscape to portrait in one easy, single step. It is inexpensive, very lightweight and easy to operate. The provided plate incorporates safety stops on either end that prevents the camera from sliding out of the clamp if it's not fully locked. The DJ90 provides function, simplicity and value ... definitely worth serious consideration.

I love this head it works well with there monopod I ...
I love this head it works well with there monopod I use it with my Sony 70-200mm G Series lens. It provides the stability of a monopod with the vertical movement needed to frame the shoot. I use it mainly to photograph ultra runners.

Not rated for 8.8 lbs!
This monopod head is only rated for 5.5lbs, not the 8.8 as is posted in Amazon's description. If you go to the manufacturers' website, you will see the correct weight rating. My 60d with a Tamron 70-300mm sp vc weighs nearly 8 lbs. I had to return it.Also, although it does appear well made, the operation is quite stiff-I have arthritis and had a tough time with the quick release lever. If you have strong hands it may not be an issue for you.

Benro makes excellent products. This is one of them
Benro makes excellent products. This is one of them. I have it on my Sirui monopod (http://www.amazon.com/SIRUI-P-326-Section-Carbon-Monopod/dp/B004QC6VAG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417779069&sr=8-1&keywords=sirui+monopod) and it works terrifically. I have a Benro tripod which I love and this plate works for both. Nice interchangeable package. They really make nice stuff.

Solid metal tilthead for monopod
Great 90 degree tilthead for monopod. Particularly, nice for flipped camera into vertical position. This tilthead is sturdy build, but a bit heavy and bulky on monopod.

Great for the money
I used this on a MeFoto monopod and it does great. It has a surprisingly good build quality for the cost. My only complaint would be the cheap feel of the adjustment knob, but I haven't had any issues with it yet. Easily the best monopod head for the money. If you want simply the best, go get a Really Right Stuff monopod head.

Für unterwegs in Ordnung
Als kompfotabler Videoneiger kaum zu nutzen, doch erfüllt er Grundstandards unter Berücksichtung der geringen Größe.

Good quality well made monopod head...
Solidly built and easily adjustable monopod head.Seems to be made out of good quality metal. Nice hefty weight. I feel assured this will last quite a while.I'm only using it to support lighting equipment and for that believe it's more than capable for the job. Will have no hesitation purchasing another. (In fact I need another one for my other tripod. More than happy to receive a review unit if the seller is interested! :-)
