Do I need to paint or stain afterwards, or will it work just to preserve the wood for my garden room fascia boards without apply staining after?

How long does the wood remain tacky for? Used mine around 20 hours ago, wood is tacky and has a slight sheen

I have used this a lot. On new wood with lots of sap it can take a long time to soak in. May need ventilation as well. Other wood it can soak into quickly and can be overcoated more quickly.
