71367 Super Mario House & Yoshi Expansion Set Buildable Toy Game, Gifts for Girls & Boys age 6 Plus Years Old with Yoshi and Goomba Figures

My son, like me, is a Mario fan; his all time favourite character is Yoshi so it stands to reason that this was the first expansion set he bought. He saved up for this the second it was announced and we went to a shop to buy it the day it came out. There was a lot of hype surrounding this set and it is no exaggeration to say that it met those high expectations. The set is a great set with the main feature being Yoshi who is well realised in Lego. The scale is off, as Mario can’t ride Yoshi, but it doesn’t change the fact that Yoshi is very well realised in Lego and fun to play with. Mario’s house is a nice little feature as well for decoration but the hammock is a bit purposeless (although it does give Mario and opportunity to sleep, which he does with sound effects). It must be noted that this is an expansion set which means that you don’t get Lego Mario with it - to get Lego Mario you have to buy the starter kit. It also comes with a Goomba, and they are great little builds. Durability is medium: while Yoshi and the Goomba are robust the house is easy to break and I ended up fixing it a lot. Playability is high: if you buy into the Mario gimmick then this is a fun set to add to your collection because Mario can interact with Yoshi (although it it is the least “fun” set in the first wave as it has no real play features). Even if you don’t get into the electronic play aspect this has high playability due to the fact that it’s Yoshi; Yoshi! He gets played with non-stop in our house (the latter addition of a Pink Yoshi meant my daughter is happy - now if we can get an orange Yoshi and a Light Blue one all four kids will be happy.) Affordability is high: even at full price we have got our money’s worth from this set - at the reduce price you often see it at it is a bargain. Displayability is very high: it must be said that I love Lego, and I love Mario so of course the Mario characters are going to be ones that I want to display and they look good as well - even the house looks great on the shelve with the excellent Mario sign post (which is a printed brick). Buildability is medium: it is very easy to build and there is nothing too challenging - this isn’t a set you buy for the fun of building. The lack of physical instructions is disappointing but isn’t going to make me boycott Lego. Overall, if you love Mario and Lego this is a must buy. For characters it’s one of the best in the first wave, but for play features it is easily the worst in the first wave of expansions - depends what you’re getting Lego Mario for.

As always with Lego , good quality. Fairly Easy to assemble.

My son loves putting Mario Lego together, the instructions are done via a app.. easy to follow. I’d recommend getting one of the Mario starter packs first so you have the interactive character.

As with all Lego it is quite expensive for what you get but I managed to buy this in the after Christmas sale, at a reduced price. As others have said Mario does not come with this set and neither do paper instructions, you will need the app. Nevertheless it's a great expansion set for any Lego Mario fan, we especially like rocking Mario to sleep on the hammock!

Another one for the collection, my son loves it, it is easy to assemble, great for value for money (I bought it on sale) I would recommend it if you are Mario fan.
