Balance Activ Odor Relief pH Balanced Vaginal Gel for Women, Works Naturally to Rapidly Relieve Unpleasant Odor & Restore Feminine Freshness

After two years of having health issues that also messed with my hormones, and being on a bunch of antibiotics my vagina took a big hit and I got BV that sat around for a couple of years before it could be treated fully. The bugs I had were especially tenacious and had formed biofilm, so it was harder for antibiotics to fully eradicate them. I started learning about probiotics, lactulose, lactose, lactic acid, vaginal vitamin C, and all manner of things to help change the balance from BV to having a healthy lactobacilli dominant microbiome again in my lady parts. I had always had very sensitive lady bits, and had a history of allergic reactions to different things, as well as just generalized irritation with others. So I was nervous as heck to begin experimenting with different products to help get my bits back into proper order. One of the things I learned was that pH is absolutely essential for the vagina. If the pH is higher, bad germs (aka BV germs) can flourish and grow faster. If the vagina is more acidic, then the good guys (lactobacilli) can grow faster and flourish instead. Antibiotics have a hard time fully breaking through biofilm to kill all the bad germs, which is why these issues can keep occurring, and high pH makes it worse. Lactic acid gel like Balance Activ seemed like a great supplement to help while taking probiotics and antibiotics, and afterwards to keep things maintained as needed. I picked this brand because it had simple ingredients, and the RIGHT ingredients. I was scared to use it thinking I would have burning and/or an allergic reaction, but I was SO pleasantly surprised! It didn't hurt to take, and it totally turned my vaginal pH around and really helped the good probiotics/good germs to really begin to take over again. It was a major help while taking antibiotics! Plus the gel also has a bit of glycogen in it, which is the natural food that your good germs eat normally in the vagina to stay alive. Lactic acid is actually something your good germs make in normal conditions to keep your vagina healthy as well, so supplementing lactic acid while trying to kick out bad germs made total sense. Taking it before bed at night definitely helps a ton, but even if you take it and lay for an hour or so before getting up, it already is doing major work at correcting pH. When I take it, it makes me feel comfortable, takes away dryness, holds my pH acidic/normal, & I feel fresher. Things feel balanced, cleaner, less irritated. If it is at the end of my period or dryer times of the month, it also helps to clear out things and keeps my lady bits feeling fresh. If your pH is really off, then it is possible for a product like this to sting a little bit for a minute or two while the pH does some major shifting to normal, then it stops. But as you heal and your vaginal germs and pH get closer to normal, it actually just feels progressively more and more soothing to take. I am so glad that this lactic acid helped me in treating my stubborn BV infection, and now I have a tool I never knew about before after periods, stress, swimming, sex, etc to keep my lady bits healthy and happy! I would also add that for those that have a lot of stinging, perhaps their estrogen levels might be lower, which makes your tissues down below thinner and more easily irritated. I began taking topical vaginal estrogen to thicken up my tissues some as I am in my 40s, and I found that once my tissues had good amounts of estrogen and thickened up, products used vaginally like this became even more comfortable and not irritating! The vaginal estrogen helped comfort too, but then later adding the lactic acid was the icing on the cake along with treatment. Really getting stubborn BV under control takes a multi modal approach from what I can tell! I also had great success adding probiotics and lactulose in addition to the lactic acid as a full regimen along with antibiotics. One last tidbit to add is that I learned that UTI issues (and recurrence) can be exacerbated by having BV or high vaginal pH. So Balance Activ keeping the pH acidic helps to better protect not only the vagina, but also the bladder too! Acidic pH is the protection the female area needs to keep all manner of bad germs at bay. I tried a few different brands, but Balance Activ is hands down the most gentle, best ingredients, and it actually holds things more acidic for a longer amount of time than the other brands. It is a really great price too for the product compared to many others! I'm so happy that I found something that works and is also gentle at the same time! I am feeling (and smelling) better than I have in many years, and I can enjoy sexual activity comfortably now too which is great! As a bonus I have less bladder irritation, and don't feel like I need to pee urgently as often either! Lactic acid helping pH is such a game changer and helpful adjunct!

Worked in same day! Made me wetter during intercourse as well as more enjoyable.

I love to use this after my period for faster freshness and odor. It feels cooling and non irritating. Usually use before bed as it does leak out more if not laying down, but I have had it leak out even while laying down before but it doesn’t bother me. I’ve only had to use once after my period is over.

I’m going to give it 4 stars, only because it’s not a cure for BV. It just gives you instant relief but doesn’t actually keep it from coming back the next day.

Better option than Boric acid that kills both good and bad bacteria. Lactic acid kills bad bacteria & encourages good. Use with oral probiotics & review your current medications for their impact on gut bacteria. Best way to maintain a healthy microbiome. (In conjunction with a healthy diverse diet)

Works meh. The first day always makes my ph worse, gets better after day 3. If I'm doing nothing it doesn't seem to burn but if I use it and start yard work or anything it burns pretty bad. I prefer other brands to this one. My mom group recommended this product so it must be good for some.

I went into this purchase with low expectations and have been rewarded with a product that actually works great for me. TMI but this is why some of you are here: That after-intimacy smell is not a good time. I have tested this product a couple times now, and it worked every time. The best was this last time, when I waited till hours later to use this product and that acid/alkaline mismatch was starting to make itself known. I used this product, and within an hour any odor was gone. The next morning I was daisy fresh. Ymmv because this is a product that interacts with ph levels and body chemistry, but it works great for me.

I’ve tried some products that say that they do what they say they going to do but they don’t this product is hand down the best it say what it’s going to do and does exactly that and more if I have a off ph balance again and I hope not but this will be the my go to option and only choice for now on after using the first one I noticed a difference and then the second one it’s was completely gone and my skin is soft also
