My grandson loved this and he learned from it also. I think it comes with a refill so you can put it back together and dissect it all over again. If not, regular gelatin worked for us.

This is such a fun activity for kiddos! My homeschooler really enjoyed it and it’s nice that there’s extra packages of the gelatin so you can do it over and over again.

She LOVED this kit but my issue is it comes with two packets to make the mold again but you can’t buy more packets separately so you have to rebuy the entire kit to keep having fun .

The idea is incredible and this is brilliant way to make sicence fun, but my specimen was seemingly dried up. Otherwise I would be raving positive, about this. We did get to keep the butterfly.

Love the option of a smaller Dissect-it kit! We ordered two different ones and they were both a hit with the 7 and 9 year olds. The amber kit gave us the opportunity to deep dive into the importance of insects preserves in amber and what we can learn from them. The little fly inside was bigger than expected, great quality and attention was paid to getting the details right.

Great Product! My son loved it! He had a bigfoot themed birthday party and this was a very unique gift!

I really liked this concept and thought it would be a great activity for my son. From opening to completion, the entire activity took about 2 minutes. It did spark some conversation around the life cycle of a caterpillar/butterfly but overall, I don't think this activity was worth it.

It takes only a minute to pull the creature out of the hardened slime. Not much play value.

My son opened it and the bug just fell out of the Amber as if it wasn't fully encased in it. If your children are interested in this, I would suggest spending more money and getting a better quality

Product is exactly as described, both by other reviewers and the product description…except for one thing. The available types of skeletons is only the mouse and bird, and not the salamander/lizard. Also, as other reviewers say, it is too easy to get the bones out of the gel, so it’s not really any fun. So, I took them out myself and placed them in dyed Plaster of Paris for the kids to dig them out like a real archaeologist. They had waaaay more fun that way. But I already figured on doing this due to having bought the other Dissect It kits and knew how easy that gel stuff was to take apart (those kits still better than these ones), so that’s not why I took stars away. I took two stars away due to the misleading photos. I do not like it when people are not up front about their products. The salamander is even featured in the three animals most eaten by owls in their own information pamphlet that comes with it. Hope this helps.
