Mdvr will keeps recording when the solar battery has power. that is to say, mdvr will working all the time if has power input.

Can i use a vga splitter to run two monitors, one in the camper and one in the truck?

NO, it can not use VGA splitter. however, the mdvr has HDMI/VGA/AV 3 video outputs. if you want to use 2 monitors, please use a monitor with HDMI or AV input, then it can work with 2 monitors at same time.

Hello i need to retrieve files from the dvr. how do i get them?

Go thru the menu and transfer the file for the time to a flash drive then just plug into a computer.
