Great affordable rugged phone
The Cat S42 is my first CAT phone and has to date been a great purchase. I like the, design, even though it has chunky bezels, it doesn't have a notch and is very grippy and comfortable to hold. It doesn't feel that heavy either, unlike a lot of rugged phones. It does seem very durable, but you are unlikely to drop it given how grippy the phone is. I like the copper accented programmable button, that can be used to open any app you like (camera or flashlight for example). The display is 720p, but colours and viewing angles are decent. The camera while basic can capture decent images in good lighting, but not so good in low light (but it does have a powerful flash and night mode in the settings). It's not going to rival a Pixel for example, but it is certainly good enough in most instances. The phone has a single bottom firing speaker, but the sound is clear and quite loud. It also has a headphone jack and supports Bluetooth 5.0. It also supports USB OTG, so you can plug flash drives into it for copying files. The chipset in the phone is a mediatek A20. It's an entry level chip and coupled with 3gb of ram, is not going to give you flagship performance, but I have found it performs perfectly fine for most tasks. It doesn't really feel sluggish in daily use, but would probably not be suitable for heavy gaming or video editing for example. The chipset does have an ace up its sleeve when it comes to battery life however. The battery life has been exceptional for me so far. With heavy use you can easily expect two days from a charge, with light use, it can last days. I just charged mine after 11 hours of screen time over 6 days! I think that's pretty amazing for a 4000mah battery! The phone comes with android 10 and now updated to android 11. Seems to be working just as well since the update.Call quality has been great and I have had no problems with signal strength or WiFi.Cons:Charges over micro USB. (Would've preferred USB C, as it would've charged quicker. As it is it takes about 2-3 hours to fully charge from about 15% battery).Only 32gb storage. Would've preferred 64gb, but it does have micro SD support which mitigates this to some extent).Cat installs quite a few apps out of the box, which you might not want/need, which take up some of that valuable storage. The good news is most can be uninstalled or disabled. No finger print or face recognition security unlock feature. It means you have to rely on a password, pin or pattern to unlock your phone. The display could be a little brighter. It's good enough, but you might struggle to see the screen in bright sunlight.I would definitely recommend this phone if you're looking for an affordable rugged phone that covers the basics. I think it looks great, doesn't feel cheap and is good value for money.

Dam good phone
There are so many stresses in life that I don't want to add to that by treating my phone like royalty because it would break if you dare to trip over and when it breaks you got to jump though so many hoops to get it fixed or replaced, re-setting up two factor authentication on everything and not having a phone for awhile, why go though that, get you something that last and this is built to last.

Major faults within 3 months.
Battery life deteriorated within 2 months and now the speaker is crackling constantly. Bought in February. So two major faults within 3 months of use.Company only offering to refurbish the phone. Refused to give refund or replace it, as it is against their policy.

Amazing phone, does exactly what it says it does. Never run out of battery, even under very heavy usage I can get a few days of it.
