Truly is what it says on the tin- Timeless and Classic
Every time I go back to these albums, I get goose bumps. They have always been appreciated by Miles and Jazz fans as a superb snapshot of a moment in time. The playing and content is sublime - not in a clinical way, but a warm friendly casual confidence that shows performers at ease with each other, their instruments and the material. Miles may have been motivated to discharge his contract with Prestige Records, but he and the band did not short change the company, and neither is todays listener, as this re-packaging faithfully captures the artwork in repro cardboard sleeves. True, "DIG" is the odd one out, but think of it as a bonus, especially as as a foursome, they have never been available at such an affordable price. I hope it will tempt in new Jazz fans who will find it a gateway to a world of wonderful music.

Cookin' in the wrong order
Reproducing the original vinyl artwork is only a good idea up to a point. You need a magnifying glass to read the notes. For the albums Cookin' and Relaxin', the tracks aren't numbered on the sleeves. No problem if you have vinyl because I guess the numbers are on the vinyl label. But there is no numbering on the cd label. So unless you're a big aficionado of jazz, you don't know what it is you are listening to. Certainly for the Cookin' album, a logical reading of the track list left to right and top to bottom gives the wrong playing order. We know the music is great but as often is the case with these multiple album sets, the packaging and information is lacking .

Good value.
If you are reading this review then I assume that you know the music. This is a good set and a good price. You can pay a lot more for less. There are plenty of versions of these CDs out there, You make your choice and you pay accordingly. Personally, I feel that this was good value for money when I purchased the set for less than £10.
