TL;DR: This device seems to work as advertised in a simple benchmark. Inverting the data cable does not reduce the device down to USB 2.0 speeds as other adapters do.I purchased one set of these "Electop Updated USB 3.1 GEN 2 Male to Type-C Female Adapter (2 Pack), Support Double Sides10Gbps Charging & Data Transfer,USB A to USB C 3.1 Converter( Black)" and took delivery of them on 1/4/2021.Since there are mixed reviews, I decided to test them. I was not paid to test them, nor does the product manufacturer know I'm doing this beforehand.The testing apparatus is a 2017 Macbook Pro, a SSD external drive, a USB-C to USB-A adapter that supports USB 3.1 (note, not 3.2), and these adapters. I first benchmarked the SSD drive on a direct connection though a thunderbolt cable. I got ~630ish MB per second. I then plugged the SSD though the thunderbolt cable to the Male to Type-C Female Adapter, then though the USB-C to to USB-A adapter to adapt the cable type back to Macbook Pro. This setup effectively forced the data connection to go though the Electop adapter. In theory, this combination should have a only negligible effect on speed.I did not see any degradation of speed between running the SSD directly over the Macbook's Thunderbolt 3 port vs the speed it got though this adapter.I repeated the test inverting the Thunderbolt cable into the Electop adapter to determine if it runs at USB 3.x speeds on one side of the adapter and USB 2.0 speeds on the others like my older C-to-A adapters do. It ran at full speeds on both sides.

Using this to connect my iPad as a secondary monitor to my 2015 MacBook Pro using the Duet app, and it’s fast enough that there’s no perceivable lag. This turned out to be smaller than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Also love that the USB C port is reversible, unlike some others, so I don’t have to think about how to plug it in.Quick note about using an iPad as a second monitor—I’m using a short (3 ft) Thunderbolt 3 cable, and it works seamlessly on my MacBook Pro. I tried the same setup on my Lenovo X1 carbon, using both the built-in and this USB A-to-USB C adapter, and unfortunately find that it has momentary hiccups/lag when moving the mouse. It doesn’t happen for video, so likely something software related, but just wanted to put that out there for others trying to emulate my setup—it does work more seamlessly on a Mac.

doesn't work with any of my usb 3.1 gen 2 cables which were all running fine on their own. with the two adapters, none of them can even browse the drives properly. one star is for the look and seemingly good build quality.

Avec les cables originaux (usb c vers usb c) 500 MB ( in and out + ou - ) avec le cable (usb c vers usb a) branché dans usb a 3.1 gen 2 même chose. Avec les 2 adaptateurs usb c vers usb a branché dans le même port usb 3.1 gen 2 30 à 50 MB, PAS MAL LOIN DU 10 GB PROMIS.

Unable to get the item to work consistently - easier to use a USB-C to USB-A 3.0 cable.

I don't use it to charge anything so I can't comment on that but it does allow me to connect my USB-C HD to a USB 3 connection and it works fine.

I want to write a good review because I need this product! Unfortunately for me, it didn't work at all - no connection, no device recognized. Sent back.I still want it to work!
