A Touch Of Class [Blu-ray]

Disappointing quality
When played through my Samsung Blu-Ray player (which usually renders 'ordinary' DVDs very well), the picture occupied only half the screen area and was not of great quality. By adjusting the picture size on my TV I got it to fill most of the screen but despite my best efforts, the picture remained too contrasty and lacking in detail. Whilst the film is perfectly viewable, the overall definition is rather disappointing.

AVOID: DVD will not play properly in a large screen TV
The film is excellent (though dated) but beware the cheaper edition: I could find no way of filling my 55" TV screen with the image, which I would guess came to less than 28" diagonal. Whether it would less than half-fill a smaller screen, I wouldn't know - but I do NOT recommend this DVD. Try the £10 version??BTW, I have never experienced this issue before and have a great many DVDs.

A thoughtful, witty & moving film.
A thoughtful, witty & moving film which says a lot about the joys & tribulations of romantic relationships. Glenda Jackson is at the height of her brilliant best & deservedly won an Oscar for best actress. Other parts in the film are performed really well & convincingly. It provides excellent entertainment and much to reflect on afterwards - satisfying.

All time favourite!
One of my all time favourite films. Managed to find it on. Battered old. Use but was so eased when I found it on Amazon. It features Glenda Jackson in her first comedy film role which she was chosen for by the director following her performance on The Morecambe and Wise show! George Segal plays a married charmer who is 'never unfaithful to his wife in the same town' Glenda asks where she is now and is told 'out of town'!This is one of those films I can watch again and again and it was money well spent!

Disappointed ...
This dvd is of the worst quality I have ever purchased, I gave up trying to watch the film after about 10mins due to the letterbox view and and white lines running along the top of the screen. I was unable to alter the screen format on my Sony TV. I love this film, but doubt it will ever be shown again on normal channel tv. You cannot return this dvd, please be warned!

Technical Transfer NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Film content apart, I agree with an earlier reviewer ("Marco") that the technical quality of the Firefly 2012 release is simply just not good enough. While the box blurb said 4:3 frame size, my copy was clearly a 16:9 image squeezed into a 4:3 frame, giving a very small onscreen picture with the proverbial "black" bars at the top and bottom of the picture. Worse, the picture was too dark in many scenes and there was an annoying flicker of white horizontal dots at the top of the frame. If I was Glenda Jackson I wouldn't want my work messed about like this! As much as one might admire Miss Jackson, don't waste your money on this DVD - wait till there is a better transfer!

Great memories
Probably a film of its time now but no less enjoyable for that. Glenda Jackson was the perfect English foil to George Segal as a brash American. Got a bit far fetched at times but okay. Sure if they made it now there would be far more graphic sex as opposed to the fun involved in the sexual bits in the original
