After 300 miles my Chain is still clean and quiet!
I switched to this chain wax after years of using traditional oil-based lubes, and the difference is noticeable. After waxing my chain with this blend, the drivetrain runs really smooth and quiet, and it stays much cleaner than when I used regular lube. There’s no greasy buildup or black grime on the chain or cassette. The wax melts easily and coats the chain well once it’s properly cleaned. After it cools, the chain feels dry to the touch but still runs very efficiently. I’ve also noticed that the wax lasts quite a while between applications compared to most drip lubes. Wax-based systems like this help reduce friction and keep dirt from sticking to the chain, which can extend drivetrain life. Pros: • Keeps the chain extremely clean • Smooth and quiet shifting • Long-lasting between rewaxing • No greasy residue on hands or bike parts Cons: • Takes more prep than regular chain lube (chain needs to be fully degreased first) • Requires melting the wax for application Overall, if you’re willing to do the initial setup, this wax is a great upgrade for keeping your drivetrain clean and running efficiently.

Works as advertised. Expensive, but worth the conversion to wax.
First off, the conversion to wax has been well worth the effort to me. The first thing you have to do is decontaminate your entire drive train in order to change over to wax. This took me on and off for three days. But the result is WELL worth the time investment. No more muck, no more grinding that filth into your chain. I would recommend just throwing out our current chain and using strip chips (another Silca product) to prepare factory new chains for the first time. It's very little effort and you will have these chains to rotate into use probably for the life of your bike. Waxing is that good. I typically far surprass what they estimate for rewaxing, but I'm not a pro or anything. I also use their drip wax to top off in the event of a wet ride. Trust me, it might sound like a pain, but it's nothing compared to properly maintaining a drivetrain with wet lube. You also have the benefit of a perpetually sparkling clean drivetrain that you can actually touch without getting ANYTHING on your hands, clothes, etc. This is truly a game changer. This product among waxing products in particular because of the ability to simply use a wax additive chip to prepare factory chains. No hassle stripping and prepping - just add the chip and throw the factory chain in. I cannot recommend this system enough. The only doubt you'll have is why you waited so long.

Great stuff!
Follow the directions and watch the YouTube videos as recommended and you will have no problems. I did find that once the chain comes out of the hot wax and starts to harden it can be difficult to remount the chain. This is because the wax can clog the spaces between the links and can cause some slippage when changing gears. That was the first time I used the was. The next time - I had 3 chains to clean - I wiped the chain down lightly as it came out of the hot wax while it was still hot and that made a big difference avoiding the clogging issue. Waxing the chain with the Silca Mystery wax was the best thing I ever did for my chain. It is so quiet and does not pick up road grime as with other lubricants. After a ride use a microfiber cloth and run the chain through it a couple turns and you will take off surface dirt- and be amazed at how clean the cloth remains. Worth the $$.

Enjoying this product very much
When I heard about the full immersion process for bicycle chains I was intrigued, and now that I’ve done it for six months, I’m fully converted and could never see going back to putting oil on my chains and having to constantly clean them from the dirt they collect. Once you pick up a cheap crockpot at the local Goodwill, and just get used to wiping down your chain with a microfiber cloth and some denatured alcohol after every ride and applying the Silca super secret drip on wax on every roller, just like you would do with if you’re using oil, it’s no big deal, the process is easy and I now enjoy cleaning the chain, putting on the drip on lube, and then every 200 miles for each chain, completely doing the immersion in hot wax and starting over again, knowing that the chain is not deteriorating and is not wearing out the chain rings and cassette on my bike. It’s also nice to know that every time I ride the bike it’s super quiet and smooth, and you know that your expensive chain rings and cassette are not getting worn out as you ride. I recommend having three chains that you cycle through so that you can ride basically 600 miles, or 200 miles with each chain, before switching over to the next chain. You should go to the Zero Friction Cycling website to get more information about how to properly maintain your chains using the full immersion method.

Very impressed. Not going back to regular chain lube
I've been using this for about 9 months now on both my road bike and our tandem. I ride only in dry conditions and mostly on pavement. On the first application, I recorded about 500 miles on the road bike and 350 miles on the tandem before the chain started to make a little noise, indicating the need for rewaxing. The bikes stay clean and I don't have to worry about getting grease on myself when loading and unloading them from the car or when fixing a flat tire. Rewaxing is very easy. I just wash the chain off with hot water, let it dry, then dip it in the wax pot. My wax pot is a small electric kettle from a second hand store. It's designed to boil water so heats up a lot faster than a crock pot but has to be monitored to be sure it doesn't overheat the wax. This is by far the easiest, cleanest, and longest lasting chain lube method I've ever used. The hardest part is degreasing the chain prior to the first waxing. After that, it's dead easy to reapply wax, it lasts for many miles, and there's no greasy mess on the chain and sprockets. I'm not going back to regular chain lube.

love this stuff
once you figure out how to wax a chain and get the method down well this stuff is amazing and really easy to use. I have waxed 3 chains in total with this stuff and don't see myself needing to get another bag of this stuff for a really long time. as for how it feels on the bike once you knock off the outer layer of wax and make the chain flexible again and then ride it for about 3-4 miles it feels great for the next 100 miles or so being really smooth and not making any weird noises. though if it is your first time with a waxed chain just know that the chain will sound different then it would after a really good normal lubing and will sound a little louder; however the feel of the chain itself will be very smooth and good. I definitely recommend this stuff and chain waxing if you are someone who rides in dry conditions or someone who has other options for when it rains since I feel that riding in dry with a waxed chain is really the only way to make it worth it overall due to the increase work needed for a waxed chain.

Better than expected.
So finally got out on one of my bikes that I recently shifted over to a waxed chain instead of wet lube. I was completely blown away by how quiet my drivetrain is now and the shifting is definitely better. We will see how things go with how long the wax lasts, but from everything I have seen online for re-applying the wax, it seems pretty simple and effortless. Looking forward to no more messy grease on my drive train and no more chain tatoos from my chain. Thanks Silca for a great product.

This wax + Endurance chip = 1k KM per application
This bag alone is 2 worth 2 years of waxing or 20k KM on average. If you add the endurance chip it will basically double it. Thank you Silca.

Hot Waxed Chains - Great!
I started using Silca hot wax when my latest bike arrived in summer 2023. The learning curve for application and ongoing maintenance is pretty simple and the chain quietness and performance is excellent. Certainly a much cleaner lubricant than any drip-on oil or synthetic liquid but it does need more frequent touch-up applications. Expect 300-400km outdoor durability, twice that indoors on a trainer set-up.
