Great for servers
I’m a shoe loyalist. I have 4 pairs of shoes and 2 are these. One in black one in brown. These are not the revered DMs of old that last a decade, nor are they belong with current trash boots. These shoes are quality. Almost only leather with very little padding inside. No padding = nothing to break down n get uncomfortable, nothing to collect foot odor.Like all DMs with this style sole they are grease, fat, oil, and petrol resistant.A quick rinse and coat of DM wonder balm n the outside looks as good as new. At least as good as rugged shoe can look. The black I wear 5 days a week 10-12 hours a day working as a server and stage hand. I walk on everything from greasy kitchen floor, carpet, cement, slate. I feel secure in them. Despite the weight my feet are never tired and I don’t ever have the common issues associated with poor shoe choices.I’m 33, not 18 so end of 12 hrs every else hurts, just not my feet. The exact same shoe in brown I wear every day I’m not at work. I’m active and I travel. Saw me through all types of weather and terrain. Hiking in Georgia, 5k run at the cemetery in Philly, over the canals in Holland, straight into the original DM location in London (then to the Brit-Boot Shop ...INCREDIBLE).. and of course to the grocery store cause they are shoes. The black last about 1.5 years and the brown last about 2.5. Been wearing the same style since 2009.I think choosing the right shoe is one of the most important decisions to make. It can effect how you do your job and more importantly how you feel at the end of it.Also have a pair of 6 yr old Chaco sandals and 4 year old Gripfast boots. Both going strong. Gripfast is a sister company of DM and EVERYTHING is still produced in England.

Very stylish, chunky, heavy shoe!
Fits my slender size 11 feet perfectly. They are as heavy as a hiking boot. The classic rubber soles are bouncy, proving some shock absorption. It is probably why they make a “scrunch” sound on certain floor surfaces such as wood and concrete. I like the chunky look, and the leather treatment “Greenland” gives it a broken in, aged look. This treatment leaves the leather softer. Which means it does scuff up and gouge more easily. That said, scratches will blend in with the treatment, especially after re-treating the leather. smooth leather scratches would continue to stand out. This all balances out fine for me — I think the shoe looks great! But if scratches bother you, don’t buy a Greenland treated Doc shoe. There is little clearance height. When I wore thick socks and unknowingly over-tightened the shoe, my feet started to go numb. Loosening the lower laces fixed it. The tongue wants to slide over the outer side a little, and drop down. keeping the upper laces tight helps. If the problem worsens, I will soften the tongue leather with shoe cream then walk around in them while the leather is wet and the upper laces are tight. This should reset the tongue.

Stitching of sides of toe box
Great shoe, good fit; however, the side stitching of the vamp to the toe box/cap tore out on right shoe within first hour of wearing. Left side stitching was a little close to the inner side of the tongue. Other shoe looked like it was hold up well. I didn't care for the toe box/cap rotating within the vamp (seemed to create more stress on the stitching), so glued the upper vamp to the toe cap and then hand stitched up to the bottom eyelets (white stitches in photos). This created a proper bend location in the toe cap and minimized weeds/grass/debris getting into the shoes when in the field.

Great Fit and Built Well
I am biased towards Dr. Martens footwear. I've worn their shoes and boots for many many years. They're built incredibly well and are always comfortable. Especially these (the Keith Lace up). My actual foot size is somewhere between a 10 and 10.5, but my feet are wide, so I often get a standard size US11 shoe when there aren't wide sizes available. I seem to have the perfect size foot for Dr. Martens US11 because they always seem to fit great. They're not too long either. Just a perfect fit.The color is a dark grey. I like this because I can wear with either blue or black jeans. Goes well with both. The shoes can take quite a bit of stress since the leather is so thick. They can simply be rubbed or buffed to look like new.The only complaint I have, which isn't worth knocking a star is the length of the laces. I think because I have wide feet, the laces are a bit shorter then I'd like. When tying the shoe, the lace often slips out. I'll probably get longer laces at some point.I'd highly recommend these shoes to anyone who wants a very well built shoe. These can take quite a beating and buff out to still look great.

Not as good as before
I’ve worn Doc Martens for 30 years. Never had a pair fit this poorly or take so long to break in. This pair is my 2nd of the Keith shoe and this one far and away fits smaller in every dimension for the same size.My last pair of the same shoe there was a significant difference in the sole compared to my older pair I was replacing. This new one there is almost no perceptible difference in how soft the sole feels compared to one it is replacing.I’m fairly sure this will be my last pair of Doc Martens. The quality of construction and materials used does not appear the same as it once was.

Most comfortable boot-type shoes I've ever owned.
I've got a close friend who recommended these shoes to me because his pair has been alive and running almost new for about 7 years now as his daily drivers between driving semi's and riding motorcycles. I just got these and expect the same results. They do fit to size and fit wide feet very well! I think they are the absolute best boot-type shoes on the market and would be a great investment not only in style, but shoes that can survive for a very long time.

Nice looking shoe.
Fair warning, they're definitely not "black" as stated. It's not just my eyes...I asked several others for their opinion and all thought they were dark brown.

They are Doc Martens, that won't look like Doc Martens.
These look like boots while not being as sweaty. The grip is aggressive, more for like a hiking boot without the boot. The age effect happens over a couple days so you don't have to worry about waiting for them to look like well worn friends. I broke em in on tike floor for 10 hour shifts and didn't get blisters.
