Great for mild reoccurring low back issues
I use this at work. I have chronic but mild lower back pain from two childhood accidents injuring my tailbone. Sitting for long periods of time anywhere (movies, plane, bus) becomes torture after the 3 hour mark. I knew this cushion worked when during one of those marathon deadline days where I sit at my desk all day long thru break and lunch and not once did I have low back discomfort. Highly recommend for those who have mild reoccurring low back issues.Update Sep 2016: After two years of good use the sloping part of the wedge is flattening but the "peak" is still working. One day last week I did not notice the wedge slid off when I went away from my desk and when I returned I plopped onto my chair without looking and, WOW, the chair felt so hard on my tailbone and pain shot up through my back. This let me know that the wedge is still working even though the front slope is flatter. If it helps some of you with your research: I will admit I'm a big girl (5'7-170lbs). I know a male in my office who also sits at his desk almost all day long and is 6'0 at about 180lbs and his wedge is still doing well after one year of use. We are both "gamer" or I.T. posture sitters. Instead of sitting straight upright like a ballerina we sit 135-degree back as relaxed as possible. So maybe that's why my wedge only started flattening at the 2-year mark.Con: STATIC ELECTRICITY- the fabric of the cushion creates enough static buildup for me every dry season (here in Southern California it's winter and any time the Santa Ana winds blow). During this dry season I am Pikachu at the office ready to shock someone at every turn. So if you want to awaken your inner mutant powers with the ability of lightning bolt, this is the cushion for you. But if you are a naturally clammy person, I will not be held responsible if your electric powers do not manifest.

It Works for Me
I read both good & bad reviews of this product before I purchased it after falling & breaking my tail bone. Since this was what the doctor told me to purchase I figured I would give it a try as it was fairly inexpensive. Upon taking it out of the box I thought it was not going to do anything as it is very thin & "smooshes" down easily. That wasn't the case - it immediatly provided me some relief of the severe pain I as in. No it doesn't make me pain free & no I still can't sit for hours without getting up & changing positions but it does allow me to sit thru dinner lol you can't imagine what a big deal that was. Now I carry my little cushion wherever I go - at least until this heals....

Relieves the tailbone pressure
This cushion is thin enough so as not to raise my feet off the floor! It relieved my tailbone pressure and I'm much more comfortable sitting in any chair.

Not effective
This cushion has a nice feel, the velour covering is good quality, and the price is certainly reasonable. Having said that, the cushion is not effective! The center "U" is supposed to keep one's tailbone, or sacrum or pelvis from making contact with the surface below the cushion, thereby eliminating pain-causing pressure on the region. But this cushion is too soft. Because of this, even an average person's weight causes the cushion to compress too much. So the area that is supposed to be protected actually makes contact with whatever surface is under the cushion, totally defeating the purpose of relieving pressure on the area from one's weight pressing down. Another possibility is that the higher (back) of the wedge is not high enough to prevent the "protection area" from contacting the undersurface.Anyway, not good value for money, despite the moderate cost.

I love it! I am an LMT. Big sciatic probs. Put in car, kitchen seat, computer chair.
I got two sizes of this type of cushion as it takes so long to get rid of this type of pain. You need this typeof cushion everywhere. Massage, leg, use heat/massage unit, use microcurrent, whatever & it will go away. I'm 82 & have had this prob forever!

Not Quite What I Expected...
The Wagan Ortho Wedge Cushion has not met all its claims and did not meet my expectations. Its dimensions are about right. I guess it does relieve any kind of tailbone compression because of the cut out portion of the cushion. However it did nothing to keep me propped up at the steering wheel while driving. I'm 5'5" and weigh 110 pounds...and the cushion still doesn't "consistently" keep me propped up at the wheel. I say "consistently" because when I first sit on it, it seems as though I am in fact sitting up higher. But as time goes by, it seems the cushion just deflates to where I'm finding myself trying to scoot up higher yet again. I bought the cushion specifically to keep me propped up at the wheel, not necessarily for its orthopedic benefits. I've unzipped and opened up the velour cover and inspected the foam and it doesn't seem dense enough to significantly and consistently provide adequate weight support. I can actually take the thickest part of the cushion (which is 2.75 inches according to their dimensions) and squeeze it flat to about 3/4 of an inch between my thumbs and pointer fingers without any resistance. So this is probably why it fails to support me at the wheel. However, I must say that the cushion does feel soft and comfortable for a given amount of time and probably would provide some relief to those who suffer from tailbone and disc compression issues. Maybe it would be better suited for use at home in a chair or something...I don't know. Everyone is different, so maybe it will work for others. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for. If you're not looking to sit on this cushion for a given amount of time and you're consistently getting off and on your chair, then maybe this will work for you. If you're planning to use this cushion for the reason I did...then good luck. As for me... my search continues...hope I find something that actually works.

Cushion Comfort
This works great, the problem is it doesn't stay in one spot in the car. I spend more time picking it up which is more painful to my back but in an indoor chair it's just fine.
