Affordable, U.S. based, quality set top box
This the THE box to get if you want the Android experience and apps on your TV, and you either don't want, or can't afford, the Nvidia Sheild TV. This runs Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box (not Android TV) with a manufacturer home screen (launcher), which can easily be changed. Basically, if you put the Google Now launcher on it, you're essentially running a Nexus 7 tablet screen on your TV. Some people may be disappointed that it's not an "official" Android TV device, but having plain Android on there means you can install pretty much any app you want, since you get access to the full Play Store and not the condensed, TV-only one. I do know it outputs full HD at 1080p, however I do not have a 4K TV to test the 4K resolution. Other reviews, which you can read, have tested the 4K output so I would read those first if that's something you're interested in. For me, I just needed something that I could run Kodi and Netflix on, as well as access my Play Music, Tunein Radio, Spotify, and Snes9x. The interface is very snappy and runs everything without a hitch. I do need to point out that after to first boot it up, go directly to the updates app and start updating. Mine was about 5 or 6 updates behind, which ended up fixing a whole lot of weird issues. Now it's fully updated and virtually flawless. I did end up installing HAL Launcher to get more of that Android TV feel, and I also use the MINIX NEO remote with the keyboard on one side. The quality of the device is top notch and comparable to Roku or most other major brand set top boxes. This doesn't feel at all like cheap Chinese-made quality. There are 3 full sized USB ports and one mini port (like on a phone). It comes with an OTG cable, which is like a short USB extender with a mini USB jack on one end, so the mini port can be made into a 4th full size USB port. It also has a slot for a micro SD card. I've read that the USB ports can power external hard drives, so someone could really get some massive storage added to this thing if they wanted. There is also the standard HDMI out as well as toslink (optical) audio out, which both flawlessly. As far as software goes, Netflix runs fine, although it is the standard Android app so you'll definitely need an air mouse or a bluetooth/wireless mouse to navigate it. Also, as it is the standard app, you cannot stream in HD, although that is the cas for most phones and tablets, as Netflix does not turn on it's HD streaming based on device capabilities, but rather manufacturer agreements. So unless your running it on one of the devices in Netflix's limited list, you're not getting HD. Kodi runs great, and picked up all the streaming video addons just fine, as well as my extensive music collection on my network share. I was also able to test Play Music, VLC and MX Player, and they all work fine. I really don't think you'll have any issues getting most apps to work on this, as the hardware specs are more than adequate for general use. I would recommend, though, if you plan to do a lot of streaming, to connect it via ethernet and don't use the wifi antenna. Although the wifi is pretty decent, you may experience degraded quality when using it, especially if you stream a lot of 1080p stuff. Like I said, this is THE box to get, especially if the Nvidia Sheild is not an option for whatever reason. It will run whatever you throw at it, and it gives you enough ports and expansion options that you'll never need to mess with things like hubs and switchers. Plus if you get stuck or need help, MINIX has a great online forum on their website (that's how I figured out my update issue).

Nice Android Box at an attractive price.
Lacks some features of earlier NEO boxes that would made it easier to use. Difficult to navigate around settings and it is confusing on how to get to them easily. Much higher speed in both uploads and downloads. I can easily download up to 65mbps and upload at almost the same level. I would recommend rooting this box to take advantage of more features and customization's. 4k playback makes 1k look even better than the original playback. Nicely priced and easy to set up and use. You would want to have an internet speed of about 50mbps to get good reliable streaming from all of the popular streaming sites. It also has a nice bright pilot light compared to the older models that you could not see if was on from across the room. Works with almost every app on the app store. It also has a "fake wifi" meaning you can be connected to the ethernet but websites would think you are on wifi and will work without any issues. Many of them will not unless they think they are connected to a regular wifi connection.

Great Performing TV Box That Won't Be Obsolete Anytime Soon
One of the best Android TV boxes available. High quality components with heat sinks so the box runs cool. Powerful CPU churns through everything with aplomb. Invaluable official forums for downloading firmware updates and XBMC Minix Edition upgrades. OTA updates are also supported. Excellent support via the forums with English speakers that all the other TV boxes lack. Will not be obsolete soon because it supports 4K video for both x264 and x265 10-bit encoding. CONS: DO NOT INSTALL KODI FROM THE PLAYSTORE! It will "clobber" the DTS passthru. I learned this the hard way and only found out about the problem after going to the forums. Also, be aware that there can be regressions in the firmware upgrades. Only install if they fix a feature that you need. I am on Firmware 005 and it is nearly golden for me. A few trivial bugs, but everything important to me works. Video performance is excellent as expected. DTS, Dolby 5.1, Dolby 7.1 and DTS MA HD 7.1 passthru are all working for me which is the trifecta and then some! A slight glitch is that the audio for DTS MA HD 7.1 is slightly out of sync. A minor manual adjustment at the beginning of the movie is all it takes for perfection.

I did a lot of research before buying this unit. I am not a newbie when it comes to Kodi. I also have had for about a year the MXQ and the Dreamlink T6. This box is faster and more responsive, but I would defintiely advise getting a keyboard remote with it (the lit one) as it makes the whole experiece better. In my opinion, half the problems people have with Kodi is the infra red remotes that come with most boxes. The other is just learning how to use Kodi. I can't tell you how many of my friends get a box, start to use it, call me and say, "this is crap, nothing works reliably" and then call back two weeks later when they've figured it all out and tell me they were wrong and Kodi is the best thing since sliced bread. There IS a learning curve. As to this unit, it was not my first choice because I was willing to spend top dollar and get the newer S912 octo core bells and whistles. Turns out the the newer "better" hardware is worse because there is no support for it. Look on the OFFICIAL Kodi forums to verify this. This is pretty much the best unit you are going to get at any price today in terms of what actually works on an S905 based unit. Regardless of what you get, DO get a box with 2 gig of RAM as the extra gig really is necessary to not have buffering problems, crashes, etc.

Worst purchase ... not working properly .... not worth the price and with the advent android tvs ... theses boxes are waste of money ... 17000 Rs I lost all the money ... can’t handle picture qualities .. no support to Netflix ...
