TrimmerPlus Hedge Trimmer Attachment for Compatible Gas Powered Multi-Use Outdoor Equipment, 22-inch (TPH720)

Well after reading the other reviews I was skeptical about buying one and thought if it didn't work well I would send it back. Well I got it the other day and today was the first chance I had to use it. It worked GREAT!First thing I did is before I used it I lubed the blades with some WD-40 and attached it to my Troy Built 4 cycle no issues, and it worked great!! I used it on a lot of hedges, I have 2 acres and lots of hedges that have needed trimming for a while. I like that the trimming blades are able to be angled in relation to the trimmer shaft. I have a couple of tall hedges and bushes that needed to be trimmed and the blades being able to be angled was a nice help. It is easy to adjust with the pin that you pull and adjust it. MAKE SURE TO WEAR GLOVES when trying to adjust the blades after you have used it for any time as the gear box where the adjuster is gets hot.. Gloves will help and also make sure to turn it off before adjusting the blades.I love this thing. It made trimming the hedges around the house so easy. The only thing that I had trouble with is that the trimmer and hedge trimmer blade attachment is heavy! I had to use a sling to support it as much as I could. But with the sling it was bearable.I did not have any problem that some of the others say they are having. No slippage, and it cut through the hedges like butter. Its a great tool and makes cutting hedges really easy and does a better job than my electric trimmer I used before.So maybe they have made some changes to the gear box or something but I had no problems at all with mine and it worked great!PROS:Well made, heavy duty materials.Tiltable cutting blades in relation to the drive shaftMakes reaching high bushes easyCONS:When placed on my Troy Bilt 4 cycle trimmer made it pretty heavy, had to use a sling..Gear box gets hot, and that is where the tilt adjustment is.OVERALL I would recommend this equipment! I did not have the problems that the others had and it worked great.

Love this attachment, very sturdy and great price, still works after 5 years no issues.

This is a good attachment ideal for the average person's yard duties. It is easy to reposition and cuts as well as any hedge trimmer I have used. The only downside is that these multi-attachment machines (weed eaters, trimmers, etc) won't outperform machines that are dedicated 1 tool machines. I have a Troy bilt model that I use the weed eater attachment, blower, and now this hedge trimmer attachment. I have had very few problems with any of the attachments, but I will say sometimes the machine studders and is not always an instant connection. I.e. sometimes it runs a second before the mechanism fully catches and to activate the attachment. It has decent weight but includes a strap to help out a bit. For around $100 it was the best option for me.

I purchased these trimmers 11 months ago, and have used them three times. They have a 2 year warranty. Last week I was trimming my boxwood's when the trimmers suddenly locked up. I called the 1- 800 number on the label, and spoke with a customer rep for Troy-Bilt, and was told to carry the attachment to the local repair center. They had it for a week, and have told me that they the trimmer assy will need to be replaced as a whole unit, and they are not able to swap them out. I contacted Troy-Bilt again and explained what the repair center said. They are now wanting me to take the trimmers to another repair center 40 miles away. When I questioned why, I was then given another number to call. I would call this customer no service.Update: Originally one star - Troy-Bilt replied to my original comment, and supplied a direct number to call. After one last phone call, they replaced the broken trimmer. The problem is, the customer service number on the unit itself is for a third party call center, and I think, based on my experience, Troy-Bilt should not rely on them to support their products. Troy-Bilt made it right though, I hope this one is problem free.Update : July 2021 the gears broke in the replacement trimmer. This time they were used 5 times to trim boxwoods which is not a big stemmed shrub. I am very disappointed with this product. They are good when they work, but have a common problem with the gear set. They are now out of warranty, so in the trash they go!
