Bonnie Tyler The Best

A Good buy on a great disc
Not technically a "gold disc" (this means that the recording substrate is gold, instead of the typical aluminum, and probably only discernible to an audiophile on good equipment) per the Editorial Review; just a good clean, crisp, career-summing collection of some great music. I do not like each of her songs, but I really like some of them, and so it is good to capture the spectrum of her career in a single disc of good recordings of the original hits.Used disc was as described, very good condition (small crack in CD case cover), and delivered to mailbox at the near end of forecast range.

Almost
I was excited to buy this album as I wanted one CD that had all the Bonnie Tyler hits I liked instead of having to make a playlist from various albums. In particular, I wanted her songs "If You Were a Woman," "The Best," "Save Up All Your Tears," and "Don't Turn Around," which all have been more famously covered by Bon Jovi (rewritten as "You Give Love a Bad Name"), Tina Turner, Cher, and Ace of Base (even though it was a Tina Turner B-side originally) respectively. That's the main reason Bonnie Tyler hasn't had any big hits since 84 or so; they've all been stolen! But I digress. However, this compilation includes the radio/single edits of all the songs. In most cases, you're being denied about a minute to a minute and a half of mostly instrumentation, but I'm a purist and would prefer the full album versions.Even to a less perfectionistic listener, however, it's almost criminal not to have the full epic 7-minute versions of Steinman's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Faster Than the Speed of Night."The sound is good on the CD overall (to me), but I really wish they'd omitted a song or two (not one of the ones previously mentioned) to have full versions of "Total Eclipse" at the very least. I mean it is one of the most famous and beloved songs in the history of popular music. In fact, if you are more casual Bonnie Tyler fan, I recommend purchasing the "Faster Than the Speed of Night" album as a starting point as opposed to a greatest hits compilation. Although the album is not all hits, it is absolutely phenomenal and you will not be disappointed. As a more invested fan, I was hoping this compilation would be a satisfactory one-disc overview. Almost! All negativity is based on limitations of the album itself and do not reflect my experience with the seller. Took a little while to get here, but I was aware of it when I purchased it. The CD came when promised and in good shape.

I am not qualified
I like this CD but I am not the most super-duper Tyler fan. It is good. If you like her, the CD is well made with lots of good songs. This CD is not bad; I like just a few of the songs. But those songs are incredible.

Good compilation album
Good compilation album. Songs all sound they way I remember them. Really covers her career well. Love that gravelly voice on It's a Heartache.
