Shadow Tech, LLC PIG0311 Field Tripod, OD Green (Short)

I selected this for wildlife photography with a large camera, and potentiality to try with my varmint rifle. The tripod is exactly what I needed. I mounted a gimbal head on it and it holds the camera very solid. I like being able to hang my pack under it to aid in vibration reduction and stability. The legs are easy and quick to adjust. I did paint on measurement marks so I could extend each leg the same distance. The OD green finish is perfect for blending in with the hills.My only issue with it is: The Spike feet that were included do not have their threads properly cut, thus do not fit in the legs. It looks like they took them off the lathe before cutting the threads to their full depth. This is minor since the rubber screw on feet work well for photography, but with my rifle I think the spike feet would be better. I have not yet contacted the company to get new spiked feet with fully cut threads. And I must have just been unlucky, since I have not seen other reviews with the same issue.This tripod is very solid, fast to use, and a great price. Even with the defective spike feet, I am very happy with this purchase.

I bought this for use in PRS and long range shooting. I use it primarily as a mount for my 15x Athlon Cronus Binoculars. I used to use an Amazon Basics tripod, and that thing would shake if a butterfly 1000yds down range beat its wings. This is solid, strong enough to hold my rifle if I I've got a good arca mount, and is way cheaper than what most people recommend, at the cost of being made of heavy aluminum rather than Carbon Fiber.The legs have a good range of motion, come with spike and rubber feet options, and it's easy to use.I'm 5'11", and with Athlon/Vortex binocular mounts, it sits about an inch below eye level, so I end up standing with my feet spread apart. I do wish it was an inch taller, but oh well. It doesn't matter that much anyway.

Pretty much can't go wrong with this setup. The tripod is Rock solid, looks great and is at a more than reasonable price point.I do quite a bit of hog hunting, here in Texas, and I can now setup my gun with the PIG saddle and be locked on target. This way I can free up both hands and scan the area with thermal and then when spotted, get on the gun very quickly.

A can of sunscreen got punctured in my ruck soaking all my gear. Everything was fine except this tripod. It obliterated the paint and now I have large sections of shiny, exposed metal. The mechanical function of the tripod is totally fine, just annoyed that I now have to strip and repaint the whole thing. A good hide doesn’t work if your tripod is a mirror.

This is my second Shadow Tech PIG0311 tripod. I run the tall version for my spotting scope (atop a Sunwayfoto TH-55G ball head) and the short version (with Hog Saddle sitting atop a Sunwayfoto TH-55G ball head) for my SCAR 20S. Bombproof setup for both. Zero regrets on the investment and the price is far cheaper than other high end offerings from the other guys. As long as you put a quality ball head up top, you won’t be disappointed. Note: This is not an ultra light setup that you would want to hump through the bush unless you’re in world class shape. There are better setups for that, but they will be far less durable and far less stable. Trust me, I know…🙁

I picked up tripod as an entry level start to PRS. The tripod is a beast, very sturdy. Processing was quick, fast and arrived on time. It is a bit heavy being aluminum vice carbon fiber. But, I don't plan on walking miles with this one in a backpack.

The uses for a tripod of this quality are endless. From a stable adjustable shooting base, to a solid mount for a telescope or optic. I even use it as stooge to wind rubber motors for free flight aircraft. Gun cleaning and maintenance is made much more efficient and effective being able to quickly clamp or lock in a firearm at just about any angle and height to push a patch or pull a bore snake through the bore. Mounting, leveling and adjusting optics is made much more easy. This tripod is also useful for photography and camera equipment or anything else you may use a tripod for. Great purchase at a very affordable price.

Both the PIG Saddle and tripod are very well made quality items. Have only used sparingly so far in the field as I just received the products. I really like the tripods adjustment capabilities....from prone, to sitting, to standing. Currently mounting the PIG Saddle directly to the Shadow Tech Aluminum tripod. However I’ll also be trying out the setup with the exclusion of my Manfrotto Ball Head and LaRue picatinny mount for direct hookup to my firearm. I’ll do an update after hunting season. So far.....so good!
