Can I use hair dryer instead heat gun?

The heat gun takes awhile to melt it so wouldn’t use a hairdryer I’m guessing if it did work you would be there for ages.

Yes, you need to purchase preferably a heat gun. The heat gun is used to mould the connector around the 2 broken wires securely so that they connect as 1.

What’s it up rating?

I find these very useful indeed. They give a prefect connection, which is waterproof. (Although I always use heat shrink tubing over the connections to make certain they are totally sturdy and waterproof.)

is this suitable to reconnect a cut off hedge cutter cable (240v 5a). Also I just have a wind proof lighter is that ok and will the flame not burn it?

Good for fixing wires together. I just use enough hat air till the solder melts and plastic tightens. Gentle heat. I use a heat gun that straps paint.
