Takes a while to work but as it clears the the muck from the water it leaves it crystal clear. They advise, and so would I, that you start with a clean fountain. I really like that this is safe for birds and your pets! I will continue to use this weekly to keep my fountain in good shape.

It works (but be patient)
We wanted something safe for birds and other animals that frequent our fountain. When we started using the Protector, our fountain already had some algae. The bottle says it can take a few weeks to work and the Protector lived up to expectations. The underground basin of our fountain holds about 30 gallons of water, so on a weekly basis we add three capfuls. It’s been about 5 weeks since we started using the Protector and we are seeing positive results. The algae is significantly reduced.

Helps keep birdbath clear between cleanings
Does seem to keep water clear for longer, so I don't need to clean out the birdbath quite as often.

Highly recommend!
This product works wonders!! We purchased an old bird bath from a salvage shop. It had been sitting outside for months half buried in the dirt. We sprayed it out, put some water in it along with a couple drops of this stuff and within 2 days all the sludge came off! I was so impressed! I would definitely recommend reading the directions because a little goes a long way.

I hope it works! That's the plan!
I just did my 1st treatment to my new fountain. You just need a capful for 10 gallons and treat every week. My large fountain is 3 tiered and in full sun all day. It was installed about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I've been adding some water every day because the weather is hot here in the summer and you do have some evaporation. The fountain was starting to get a lot of algae, but my water treatment only arrived yesterday. Next time I clean the fountain I will need to buy some aquarium nets to clean some of the gunk out and also a wet dry vac. The vacuum should help me get all the dirty water out. I got most of it. I love the fountain and my birds love it. I have great hope for this product!
