Best mount I've ever owned
I've gone down the line when it comes to mounting systems. From dash type to rear-view mirror to cupholder versions. This by far is the best and most robust one I've had thus far!Suction cup is probably strong enough to pick up a small moose. I was amazed at the strength it had, and through this heat-wave, hasn't come off the windshield once!!!The arm and mount itself are good, great amount of articulation. Two things I caution prospective buyers to:1) This thing is well built, but that means it is BIG!!! If you're looking for something discreet, look elsewhere.2) You need a mount for your specific phone to go with this arm. I suggest the "x mount" from ram mount, as it holds most phones and does a good job keeping it where you want it.

This thing stays put!
This thing is pure awesome! All the RAM products I have owned are high quality and function great. This is definitely no exception. I originally went with the RAM Pod model to mount to the existing seat bolt in my off-road vehicle because I thought it would hold up better to the bumps and vibrations. I was wrong. After not being satisfied with the vibration on my Nexus 7, I decided to try this model. This thing mounts to anything flat and it DOES NOT MOVE! It's also nice that you can mount and dismount so quickly. I can use it off-road and then swap it to the minivan for road trips.

Perfect for temporary applications that require a strong, stable mounting system
I purchased this suction cup mount to support a RAM universal finger cradle for my Uniden MHS125 handheld VHF marine radio. I was looking for a portable, temporary system to mount the handheld radio at the helm of my boat without having to drill holes for a permanent mount. This RAM suction cup mount and the RAM universal finger grip holder were perfect for my application. All of the components were well constructed and durable. The strong suction cup and mounting base provide stable support for the weight of my handheld two-way VHF marine radio. Even in choppy seas the combination of this RAM suction mount and the RAM universal finger holder ensures that my handheld radio stays put at the helm and is within easy reach when I need it.

Puts GPS where I want it, doesn't fall off windshield.
The suction mount that came with the GPS wasn't close enough for me to see clearly without leaning forward. The sandbag mount brought it close enough but it wasn't stable and would slide around. This ram mount is long enough and adjustable so I can put the GPS just where I need it. With the Ram cradle holder, there is no movement or vibration. I just got back from a trip of 500 miles, full of bumpy roads and off road driving. At the end of the trip, it was exactly where I stuck it to the wind shield, unlike the factory suction mount that would fall off every couple of days. The RAM mount looks sturdy and should last a long, long time.

Good product. Probably the best Garmin mount on the market, IMO.
I love the articulated arm; it allows for so many positions. The larger suction cup is also a plus.Since suction cup windshield mounts eventually lose their grip, due to UV and/or heat damage, I prefer not to use the windshield as a long-term mounting surface...ever. Instead, I fashioned a mounting platform that's affixed to an unused accessory slot in my Tacoma. Though it's a little close to the steering wheel, the articulated arm lets me position my Garmin in any manner I choose.March 2015: Despite not sustaining any heat or UV damage, the suction cup will no longer remain stuck to even perfectly flat piece of tempered glass. It's not hard or stiff from age. It just got worn out, I guess.

Purchased this windshield mount to be a more sturdy and at the same time
Purchased this windshield mount to be a more sturdy and at the same time, flexible holder for an iPhone. The previous device just could not hold the iPhone well enough to prevent vibrations while filming during track driving. This Ram Mount was completely stable and allowed for plenty of motion for a good set up. Also used it on a 6 hour road trip with absolutely no issues. When removing the suction cup from the windshield it appeared to be more than ready to go another 24 hours or more. I am very happy with this product.

Great product, wrong item in factory package
The suction cup mount in rock solid. Just what I wanted, but I got the wrong item from RAM in the package. It had the right numbers on the outside, but I got a suction mount on one end and a camera screw mount on the other. Usually a score of a deal, but I had ordered the very same ball mount separate in this order. Now I have two. I wanted to have another two screw mount for my other gps unit. Oh well, it'll cost more to send it back and order another, so now I have two camera mounts.

Suction base is plastic - beware of stripping screw hole when attaching socket arm
I ordered this last week. It is shipped as two pieces - the twist lock suction cup base and the socket arm. It's no big deal, as there are only two phillips head screws required to attach it. When I received the package, I was actually traveling on a business trip and needed this mount for a project (I had it shipped to my hotel). Fortunately, I happened to have a small phillips screwdriver packed into my luggage. My concern is that when I assembled the socket arm to the suction base, the second screw cannot be fully torqued down - it's almost as if the threads in the (plastic) twist-lock suction cup base were stripped. The first screw torqued down nicely without stripping. The "loose" screw stayed in place so it's not 100% stripped but it's definitely not as secure as the other screw. I will be returning it for an exchange.Despite the flaw, I had no choice and I used the mount (with a RAM iphone 6 mount cradle) and it seemed fairly secure for the most part. I did notice some shake in the video I recorded with this mount so I'm not sure if it has to do with my particular mount being partially faulty or if it's normal.
