Keeps coffee warmer for longer
This french press is working great for me and keeping my coffee warmer than in my old glass one. It's really easy to clean and use and the coffee always tastes great.

Well constructed, retains the heat, and easy to clean
I am immensely impressed at the quality and performance of this French press.I needed a coffee maker that I could use to make several cups in the morning, where I could get a cup immediately and have another available in 10-20 minutes for my wife. I've used an Aeropress for years, and considered the Aeropress XL, but it's ridiculously priced for a few pieces of plastic and it's really designed for 2 cups brewed and consumed at the same time. When you open the box and pull this press out, you're immediately impressed by the weight and build quality. This isn't a thin glass vessel in a plastic carrier. The stainless steel, double walled construction has some heft. They even included an extra mesh filter, a nice touch.I was disappointed by Amazon's shipping. They sent it only in the manufacturer's box, which wasn't meant for shipping and the filter carrier was damaged by some impact. A few minutes with some hand tools and the anvil put it mostly back to true. It's not perfect, but it's not the manufacturer's fault. To see how this would perform, I ran an experiment:Started with coffee ground medium with a Cuisinart bur grinder.I used an additional paper filter, a few bucks for 100 on Amazon.Water boiled to 200 degrees fahrenheitFrench press at room temp, 60 degrees fahrenheit2 scoops coffee, 4 cups waterCeramic mug at room temperature, 71 degrees fahrenheitBrewed for 3 minutes, used slow press for extraction.Coffee at 160 degrees fahrenheit in cup.No groundsOutside of french press slightly warm to the touchThen I gave it 10 minutes, undisturbed to see what my wife's cup was going to be like.2nd ceramic mug at room temp, 71 degrees fahrenheitThe coffee was 153 degrees in cup, still no grounds.By comparison, the first mug of coffee is at 120 degrees fahrenheitThe double walled construction did a great job of retaining heat. I will need to use 5 cups of water next time. It was also very easy to clean.I would recommend this press to anyone looking to make a consistently tasty cup of coffee for more than one. It's durable construction and easy to clean stainless steel is a huge plus. I give it 5 stars!(I give Amazon's shipping 2 stars. Get it together Amazon!)

Seems well built, smooth operation
This stainless steel french press seems well built. It is double walled, which seems to retain some heat, but it is not vacuum insulated like a double walled tumbler or mug. It does get warm on the outside, which shows it is losing some heat. I got the grey version, and it has a textured coating on it that seems pretty thick and durable. The mechanism to push down the coffee is smoother than my other stainless press, it feels very nice. The press also is able to push all the way down to the grounds for maximum extraction. The press comes installed with 2 fine stainless filters stacked together, and an extra on in the box.

Works well but insulation is just ok
Great size. We make the coffee, put the lid on and take an hour walk. When we get back, the coffee was not quite as hot as we like. I started boiling water in the microwave, pouring in to French press to pre- heat it. Once water is boiled, I pour out the hot water, add coffee to French press, then add 200 degree water, stir and put top on and put container in pot with what was left of hot water on stove. When we return from our walk, the coffee is very hot. The press is hot to touch from the internal hot water. Not dangerous, but I wish it did a better job of keeping coffee warm. Good news, no grounds. And if you plan to drink it like most people do it most likely would hold the heat for 20 minutes or so. And for some even after an hour. Just not us without preheating, etc.

Makes great coffee. Is a solidly built French Press. And, pours nicely. We're delighted with this product.
We've had several French press coffee makers over the years. All of those were glass. The last one we purchased (Cafe du Chateau) from Amazon was obviously cheaply made, which was evident from the beginning. And, indeed, it began falling apart within weeks. When the glass broke for no apparent reason, we decided to go stainless steel. When the Bellemain French Press arrived about a week ago, it immediately felt like it was solidly built. The carafe is one solid piece with no seams, so unlike some all stainless presses we have read about, there is no possibility for water or coffee leaking in between the layers of stainless steel. The screen and plunger feel sturdy, unlike the others we have had.It makes a great cup of coffee and the coffee stays reasonably warm for a couple of hours, which is much longer than the glass models. We also use finely ground coffee on occasion. Although there is a little slush at the end, as should be expected, no grounds come through. Some other reviews say that the screen part cannot be removed. However, all that it takes the first time, is to use a pair of pliers to loosen the female end. After that there is no need to tighten it beyond a gentle hand tighten. In other models, the threads would strip very shortly after the first use. However, with the Bellemain, it feels like the threads are strong and the fit is exact. I don't expect to have any issues with this.Another complaint by reviewers concerns getting cut on the screen. This is an issue of common sense, folks. The screen is metal. The metal can cut. Don't move your hand along it. The screens have a seam around the edge, but some strands of metal can stick out. And, if you space out and get cut, you will heal. If you don't want to risk getting cut, buy a different type of coffee maker. In addition, this French Press pours nicely. We've had other types that would drip down along the carafe, unless you poured quickly risking splashing or over-filling.The only issue I have is with all coffee makers. They say, for instance with this model, that it makes 8 cups of coffee. A "cup" is a technical measurement term. A "cup" equals 8 ounces. But, all of these manufacturers use cup to mean 4 ounces. This is misleading and total b.s.
