I haven't used this in a real life scenario yet but I did test it on an old tire I use for splitting wood. I hammered a large nail through the tire, removed it and then plugged it. Filled it with water and not one drop seeped through. I'm positive it will do the same with air pressure. Fortunately, I haven't picked up any nails or screws in my vehicle tires yet. This tool is genius. Simply follow the steps and you really can't go wrong. The concept behind this tool is brilliant. It works much like a thread-setter tool (or pop-rivet gun) but with rubber plugs. Kudos to the inventor. I was always afraid of using the old type of plugs but this tool removes that fear. No more special trips to the tire shop for those pesky nails and screws that I seem to find so often. Don't hesitate, this tool is well worth the cost.

I used this kit yesterday on my 2018 Toyota Tundra after discovering a nail in the front left tire, right near the transition to the sidewall. I followed the instructions, pulled the nail, and used the mushroom plug gun to seal the puncture. The process was straightforward and the kit worked exactly as advertised. After refilling the tire to 36 psi, I checked the pressure the next morning and was happy to find no leaks at all. The repair held up perfectly. I’ve seen other users mention needing to lubricate the plugs, but mine came pre-lubricated, which made the job even easier. UPDATE 2: The more I drive, the better it seals. It seems like it has started sealing and is closing the puncture. UPDATE: After a short drive, the plug has settled and it's losing air at a slower pace. Still not 100% but works better than the nail. Anyway, I ordered another kit to fix it for real. As someone correctly pointed out - it may work well for perfectly perpendicular holes. Not if the puncture was caused by an object that entered under an angle. I was hoping these rubber mushrooms would work - but not for me, not this time - it's losing air faster than with the nail.

Bought these with hopes of finding an easier way to repair a flat. I really liked the simplicity of the plug injector. Just used them today, removed the nail, inserted the plug, filled with air to spec., everything went smooth until I got back in my car 2 hours later. My low tire pressure light was on again. It seems the smoothness of the plugs do not completely seal the puncture, thus it leaks just as if the nail were still there-you’re replacing one object for another which both serve to deflate your tire. Luckily I still had my original tire patch kit and replaced it and it’s good to go. Try your luck with something else, I use Boulder repair kit for all my vehicles, works great. If they revisit the plugging system I may reconsider buying, as for now, I can’t see a reason for buying it.

The Good: Very easy to use, especially if you cannot remove the tire from the car. Compared to a traditional string plug kit, the process is simpler. I used it on a sports car where removing the wheel is difficult. The kit itself is well made and included everything listed, and looks good. The Bad: Out of three tires I plugged, two leaked. One failed after about 20 miles and I had to redo it using a standard string plug, which has held without issues. The only reason I gave this three stars is because the kit is well built and very easy to use. Verdict: It may work in an emergency, but I would not rely on it for anything beyond that. I know these types of plugs are not intended to be permanent, but I have used string plugs for years and many have lasted the life of the tire. One of these did not even last the drive home from work. The only way I managed to slow the leak was by installing two plugs in the same hole. Disclosure: The tire was a low profile summer performance tire on a sports car, which may contribute to the issue. However, many other reviews report the same problem with the plug not holding air, which matches my experience. I would not buy this product again. Since I already spent about $30 on the kit, I plan to try larger aftermarket mushroom plugs from other companies to see if they perform better, assuming they will fit through the gun and nozzle. The plugs included in this kit are 5/16, which seems small, and there is no indication that different sizes are available.

Easiest tire plug ive ever used.. no sticky fingers or having to find a lighter.. just 5 squeezes and it's plugged .. great item
