Multi-Colored Exotic Wood Handled Ulu with Stand

I found this on Amazon after losing mine at the airport. I ❤️ it! This is so sharp, so beautiful, so useful, I use it almost everyday.

Its been 2 years now that I've had this knife and I USE it. Often. I got it originally to skin and flesh out hides. But I made a leather sheeth for it and wear it on my belt when I go out to the woods.I have had to sharpen it obviously. The wear shows. The etching is coming off. It sharpens so well and holds an edge very well. I highly recommend and I can't believe I paid $16 for a solid knife that I will probably have forever.I highly recommend this knife. It has been my constant reliable companion for many adventures, projects, and even in the kitchen.But then again, that's the whole purpose of these knives.So 5 stars. 2 years later of constant use on so many heavy duty materials.Its well balanced and works well with my tiny hands and also my husbands large hands comfortably. If you're looking for a knife that is both a beautiful display piece AND functional, this is your knife. And the price really can't be beat.

I bought this for my late mother a few years ago as a gift and while she never used it, it now finds use from my father and myself whenever we prepare food that requires chopping, slicing, or cutting thereof. It works beautifully. The scales on the handle are affixed well, the blade solid and sharp, and the stand functional yet attractive.The only thing I’d mention is the beveled edge. It is beveled on one side, which means cuts can be difficult to achieve unless you hold the blade a specific way.

I'd never heard of an Ulu until I saw them listed on Amazon while looking for a new kitchen knife. I'll admit I was intrigued by the history of the Ulu and was attracted to the colored wood handle and stand. The price was reasonable so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did!I have used my Ulu every day since it arrived. I figured it would be great to dice veggies and I was not disappointed. I was hopeful that I could also use it to slice frozen chicken. It works great on the thinner pieces and would probably work well for the thicker cuts too but I'm a kitchen klutz so I usually thaw the thicker pieces for a minute in the microwave before slicing just to avoid slipping. It works great and the blade is very sharp.The stand keeps the Ulu handy and protected, and looks great. As other reviewers have mentioned, the wood is not varnished so you'll want to hand wash the Ulu. It cleans up in a snap so it's not a huge deal.I am quite pleased and I'm thinking about purchasing a couple more as gifts for some of my foodie family members. I recommend this product highly.

The ulu I received is nice however, the wood is off center and just doesn’t look right. Could be my OCD bit once side of the wood is longer and it bothers me. But, other than that it works very well!

I bought this knife to use as a chaveta knife for cutting tobacco leaf when I make/roll cigars. It has a beautiful laminate wood handle and base. It's very sturdy and sharp! It has the perfect shape for cutting tobacco leaf and gets the job done easily. It is also great for cutting cigars to size popping off ends with ease. While looking for chaveta knives, I found this to be a better and cheaper alternative which does the same thing. I can imagine that this would make a great knife for cutting meat or vegetables, or even skinning wild game. But for now I will just use it to make cigars!

This one works well and I use it exclusively for chopped salads. I love to eat salads but could never eat them until I realized that it is the size and that if you chop it fine, it is very userr friendly to eat. I learnt it from a chef and from eating salad at restaurants. IT took a while to put two plus two togetherr. The chef was using this type of ULU knife. So I looked and took a while to find the right one and this works for me! Sharp and effective. Now I love to eat (finely) chopped salad.

*** BEWARE THIS IS VERY VERY SHARP, SO USE CAUTION WHEN USING ***I was looking for a knife that would cut my herbs and filet chicken or fish with out having to WORK hard at it, being I am an older person and my poor hands and joints aren't 20 any more... then during a search I found this Ulu knife... being I never heard of one my curiosity was peeked. Reading the reviews and then watching you tube on how to use such a cutter, I was hooked! I had remember seeing one similar, used in a movie once and didn't think much about it at the time.I first bought just a plan wood grain, after using it 1x, I came back to purchase this BEAUTIFUL multi colored one which goes perfect in my kitchen.One review I read stated the wood was not varnished. Using Butcher Conditioner ( which by the way you use on your cutting boards to keep them conditioned and is NOT harmful to the body), helps keep the wood from cracking & drying along with giving it a protected coating during washing, (of course you will want to wash with mild soap and water and dry right away as you would any wood items in your kitchen ) I use this at least once a month to keep it protected and to keep the beauty of the wood ( to me if you invest in good items in your culinary then you will want to keep them top condition )I loved it so much I now have one stashed for my grand daughter's hope chest, ( she wants to become a semi profession chief for her family & self only ).I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone with a caution warning as i stated above.
