General Tools849 E Z-Pocket Hole Jig Kit

This tool is all metal (unlike the Kreg, which is plastic with metal guide sleeves for the drill bit). I have personally never tried the Kreg jig so I can't attest to it's quality. The General Pocket Hole Jig is sturdy, light weight and it comes with the jig, step drill, a few screws and a Robertson bit (square drive) for driving the screws. You can purchase pocket hole screws from a variety of stores (make sure to get pocket hole screws as they are specifically designed for this type of project). There are two holes on the bottom of the jig to mount it onto a work surface or a board to add stability. I recommend you watch a video online (there are several) to get an idea of how to properly use the tool. The joints this tool creates are very strong. Great price, great quality.

This is a simple tool and takes probably one try on scrap to nail the peculiarity of the tool. I think it is a great tool, but it could be limited in respect to the Kreg jig in that this is a fixed device. Right for the money though.

Having never used a pocket hole jig before, I chose the General Tool 849 because it was made of a sturdy metal (instead of plastic) and because it was a complete set, including drill bit, hex wrench and screws.Thus far I have used it once, but I have plans for other projects. It worked very well in my first project. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. No complaints or regrets. I'm very satisfied with this tool.

It is much easier to use than the other jigs. The clamp makes it easy to hold the piece of wood and drill the pockets without having to hold the jig too.

I bought this jig to do one job and got it done. This is not a real high quality tool and probably would not last long in a heavy and constant use situation. If you need a light duty tool for occasional use this is affordable and OK.

This is pretty darn slick. Wish i could use it on a few other things but price wise this thing is awesome.

If you know what this tool is used for then this is the tool for a quick job use/but for every day work get a better one.

こんな道具があればと思っていて、たまたまネットで見つけて購入しました。早速、２×４材で試しで使用。ドリル穴の切り口が、思ってたほどきれいにならないのが残念。こんな道具とわりきれば、許容範囲かなと思います。

Works as well as some major brand name products. I do find the screw used to hold the workpiece in place a little hard to turn ( loosen )
