bench bracket, I recommend them
We used to put 2 benches on the L portion of our pier and they work great for seating without taking up a lot of the floor space of the pier. they were easy to install, you can do it with beginner level handyman skills. The average homeowner can install them if your handy. strong and works good and were not tiny people

Nice easy way to make quick benches
These were nice and easy to assemble. Comes with all the hardware which is nice. The lag screws they send could be a little bigger so you may want to replace with longer ones depending on type and age of wood you are securing to. Seats are a little narrow but I am a big guy. No complaints but compliments on looks and functionality.

Sturdy with some precautions taken.
Overall a really good product- it makes adding seating to your deck very easy and straightforward. I am a carpenter, but even for a novice DIY'er I think this would be doable. My biggest concern with these brackets when ordering was how strong they would really be seeing they are resin and not iron or such. I took some EXTRA PRECAUTIONS and they turned out to be very sturdy.Precaution 1; the instructions say to place the brackets within 12" from the end and every 24" in between. I still build old school on 16" centers and followed that rule with these too. I spec'ed my benches to be 6' long and the thought of only 3 brackets is a bit scary.Precaution 2; if you let ok at the picture the bottom 2x4 is up off the deck several inches. I placed my bottom 2x4 directly on the deck and screwed it to the brackets. I then went under the deck and screwed up through the decking into the 2x4. I HIGHLY recommend doing this! It stiffened these brackets up big time!Precaution 3; this one probably didn't do a whole lot, but with only 2 lags on the top of the bracket going into the deck and another 2 on the side, I put two decking screws through the bracket into the framing underneath. What I DID NOT LIKE.Access to the various holes cast in these brackets it tough and nearly impossible without a long extension for your drill/impact.I am spoiled with good quality decking screws that take a T-25 bit, so I threw these Phillips decking screws away and used my own. Adds to the cost but not #%$& coming out around the family!I wish they would have added a faster up through the bottom of the bracket into the upright 2x4 that you screw the backing to, this would have made these a lot more sturdy and it's nearly impossible to access it and add your own.Overall 4 stars, and I would definitely buy again.

dekmate bench brackets fit the bill
I wanted to write this to help others who like myself do not want to make the bench shown, but are interested in using these bench brackets to make a flat bench. I decided to order them and see if they would work and I'm very pleased to say they work perfectly. I made a bench top out of 3 pieces of PT 2x6 boards, I slanted both sides so that it looks like /____\ I attached the two boards together with pieces of PT 1x6's underneath. I then mounted the deck brackets to the deck, placed a PT 2x4 in place and marked it so that it would be even with the top of the bracket, cut it and put it in place. I then screwed the bench onto the brackets underneath. That was the only hard part and would be hard no matter what I did. It's hard to fit a drill in the place where the screws go and of course it's an awkward position. The end product looks fantastic. It feels very sturdy and simply has no back, but is a flat bench. I think it looks much better than the benches they show following their instructions. I used the black and would recommend that to anyone. The brackets don't get any attention being black, I think that other colors could accentuate the plastic look. So if you are thinking of using these brackets in other ways than shown they do work and work well. I can't testify to how well they will last as I just finished this project the day before our October snowstorm of 23". It will be a while before we are using the deck regularly.

Easy install, and work as intended
They work just do no more than 20" on center. They are not very wided and I went with a 2x6 then 2x4 and then another 2x6 for the seat otherwise not comfortable. They are sturdy enough directions say up to 24" on center, I think that is pushing it. I went 20" and wouldn't go any more. Otherwise install was easy

Be prepared to make modifications/additions based on your usage.
The media could not be loaded. I like these and would purchase them again. The idea for these is sound when you can get past the idea they are plastic. Regardless, if you have a circular saw, drill, and a screw driver you can put these together. My deck is around 20 years old. Instead of adding the railings back on after working in the structure I opted to get this kit for a seating area. In all the kit took around three hours to cut the lumber, adjust the deck overhang, and finish up the arm rest.My spacing was 9 inches, brace, 18 inches, brace, 18 inches, brace, 18 inches, brace, then 9 inches for a total of six feet. Despite the shorter spans, the back rest felt weak. To address this the arm rests were added that are in the attached video. They pull the back in to offset any pressure and removes almost all of the flex. Some holes were missing on the molds, so instead the cut off waste from the 2x4s were repurposed as supports for the seat and mounting points for the foot area boards. Once all those adjustments were made there was still too much play in the entire bench. It felt like I was slightly rolling backwards. To address this on one end the back support was extended to the concrete block below. One the other end a completely new (old rough cut) piece of lumber was run from the top to a second concrete block. This eliminated all of the rolling feeling.I have no hints with the screws under the seats. They are difficult to get to and unless you have a 90 degree screwdriver it is hard to manage them.

These are Awesome!
I was perplexed as to how I was going to build benches on my new deck when I happened upon these brackets on Amazon.com while looking for a different item. These were a life saver. The benches were easy to build and install using these brackets and they look great. They are very sturdy and my little girls love playing on them.
