If you love it, it will grow
I love this book. Everything I read in this book about how to take care of natural hair, is everything I have been doing except that I shouldn’t be manhandling my hair. And it does take a lot of patience and the fact that it’s not going to stay styled the way you want it to be. I can’t have fake hair so I wear my hair in puffs, and since I have been gentle with it more, it’s been growing better and thick like crazy but I’m learning to always staying loving my hair no matter how long it gets. Thank you for sharing your book, I bought it 2-3 weeks ago and just finished it. It was beautiful thank you.

Great place to start for an introduction to natural ideas for black hair care
I tried to go natural a year or so ago, but found myself completely overwhelmed by blogs and videos on the internet. Co-wash? Pre-poo? None of these terms were familiar to me, and online guides were disorganized and unclear. This book was such a relief. It introduces these terms and ideas in a short, clear book that can be read in two days; now I am no longer confused when joining in on conversations in black hair care online communities. There are thicker books on black hair care that I hear are good, but I like that this one can literally get you started in 48 hours. What I love about the author's ideas is that they can be followed in a low-stress way, and she proposes all natural ingredients. I spent maybe only $35 buying all the things I needed and four months later, I still haven't run out of my materials. I love that everything I use is organic and uncomplicated.A couple of years ago I read a book that encouraged relaxers, straightening irons, and various expensive cremes. It is a strategy many of my friends used and it was a headache, and an ounce of moisture on a drizzly day would ruin all the effort you put into your hair. I was always procrastinating on that regimen because it was so tedious and time-consuming, and of course my hair would get worse because I couldn't drag myself to spend up to two hours, two days a week on my hair like that book suggested. I was desperate for new advice, and wanted to go natural.Since I started using regimens designed from this book, I have only skipped one week of my usual routine in four months (and that was the week I had exams!). No more procrastination for me because maintaining my hair is no longer a chore. My hair feels like it has grown since I started this regimen, but it is hard to tell because I no longer straighten my hair. It is definitely no worse than what I used to do, and it feels luscious, ethnic, and full.

Loving And Accepting Curly Hair
I first became interested in a book like this after making up my mind that I intend to fully accept my natural curls. Additionally, I was lucky to have stylists that did a great job with chemically straightening my hair but there was a part of me coming out that wanted to work with my natural curls. I just got tired of forcing my hair to be straightened when I had a hunch to find a book to work with my naturally curly hair. Fortunately, "If You Love, It Will Grow" by Phoenyx Austin provided the answers and guidance I need to embrace my natural hair. The following are some of the tips that she gives:Chapter 1-My Hair Story: Phoenyx Austin shares what inspired her towards her journey of deciding to wear her hair in its natural state.Chapter 5:Lifestyle Principles For Healthy Hair Growth: Phoenyx provides informative tips on having healthy hair.Chapter 10: She provides on how nurturing the natural hair texture helps with having stronger hair. My own natural curls are the result of my Puerto-Rican, African American, and Menominee Indian ancestry. The book appears to be geared for those from various backgrounds who have "type 3" hair and/or curlier. Naturally curly dot com and ouidad dot com are both good resources in determining one's curly hair type. "If You Love It, It Will Grow" by Phoenyx Austin is an encouraging book for anyone that needs help in making the most of their naturally curly hair.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a must have Afro-Textured Hair type book. I've learned so much from this book about Afro-Textured hair. I love how Dr. Phoenyx Austin told her personal stories as to how it begin with her hair as a child to hair weaves in college to her trip to Jamaica; I love how she guides you through the care of Afro-Textured hair and I love how she humor you with the truth from chapter to chapter.I wore weaves and braids for a while because I didn't want to deal with my own hair that is growing out of my head; my Afro-Textured hair became foreign to me. My natural hair is pretty long, thick and full; I wanted to wear my natural hair and never 100% understood how to care for it besides perming or pressing my hair. This book shed some light in areas I was not aware of; it gave me the confident I needed to embrace my natural hair and make the necessary change. This book is an easy and quick to read. Dr. Austin gives a lot of options without pushing lots products upon you; she likes to keep it simple. Dr. Austin broaden my intuition about Ayurveda, oils, shampoos, conditioners and moisturizing products; she didn't push them but gave suggestions on what they are good for and how to appropriately use them. A simple regime can be created by following some of Dr. Austin thorough point of views. When explaining various chapters and techniques, Dr. Austin was very detailed.I've obtained great results by applying some of the techniques from this book to my hair. This book is a keeper and I will be using it as a references guide!

Hmm. . . A little bit boring.
It’s worth reading but be prepared to skip bits. I found the most useful chapter the one about the authors suggested hair regimen. It’s likely I will read that chapter again. That said, the premise of the book is a good one and I’m sure many people who have relaxed their hair for years will find the book informative and encouraging. It’s certainly given me a boost 8 months into my transition. Keep going ladies. You can do it!

Great Read - full of useful information
Just finished reading ‘If you love it, it will grow’ and although it has a lot of information that you may already know it is a great refresher on loving and caring for you hair. It is a great read and I was a little sad when I got to the end. That said chapter 18 has lots of quotes about loving hair ( and yourself) despite the criticism and judgment of others. Thanks Dr Phoenyx 😊

Great guide to retaining and growing natural/relaxed hair
I read it in one day. Really great book with lots of tips on maintaining and growing healthy afro hair. Some books can be boring when explaining the science of hair but these parts were informative, well delivered with some humour. The book covers Dr Phoenyx's own hair story, hair basics, hair damage, lifestyle tips for healthy hair, hair products, seasonal hair tips, trimming, colouring and nutrition which doesn't just say drink lots of water and a balanced diet.

Great
I Love this book! It has really helped me to better understand how to look after my hair, using only natural products/ingredients. It also helped me to form a hair regime suitable for my lifestyle and my hair type!I would say it is worth reading it with a highlighter (or two!) as there is a lot of information and it makes it easier to look back and pick out the information you need.Would reccomend - this is my hair 'bible'!
