Great book to help your kid read.
My child is learning to read. These are a great way to do it if they’ve got a little bit of potty humor in them. We typically read two or three of the short chapters per night.

Brace yourself for this TLDR review
My kids are 7 and 11 and they both love these, but mainly the seven-year-old. He reads them out loud to us. I’m not big into kids books or movies and even I think these are super funny. At least in my household, the books that get kids reading have to be funny. I did teach 6th grade English in the past as well. One tip I will give to parents of reluctant readers is they should be encouraged to read whatever they want. I know parents that won’t let them read graphic novels because “they should be reading chapter books” or won’t let them read books below their reading level, or won’t let them reread books. Unfortunately, you’re making reading feel like a chore and it becomes much less likely that your child will grow up to be a life-long reader. All learning, including reading (which you have to do at least some reading to acquire most new skills in life), must be intrinsically motivated to be sustainable. If your two-year-old is asking you to read the same book over and over. Do it. Your child is memorizing that book and that is pre-reading (stage before your child becomes a reader). If your older child wants to read the same book three times, no judgements. Encourage autonomy. Kids want to be noticed. Try something like: “I noticed you are reading that book again. You must really like it. Can you read me a part you like?” Or “I’ve read my favorite books more than once as well.” Give yourself and your child a break. You are not falling short as a parent if you aren’t constantly pushing your child to achieve more or be more productive. Fun fact: during Shakespeare’s time, ambition was considered a vice and is a recurring theme in many of his tragedies. For MacBeth, ambition became an insatiable quest for power which corrupted him and ultimately led to his demise. Not saying that will happen to your child lol but it’s good to remember that the way we see ambition/drive/grit/productivity/efficiency/whatever is part of our culture, not a universal truth. It’s okay to let your child just be who they are. They aren’t clay that you mold and shape. It isn’t your job to make sure they are constantly improving themselves. Your job is to make a safe home for them and make sure they know that they can always talk to you about anything. That’s all.

My daughter loves these. Great for pre-teens.
I really wanted an alternative to the boring Garfield comics she liked, and Calvin and Hobbes is still a bit too old for her. This was a lot more fun for me to read to her, and she loves the colorful drawings and silly faces. Good kid book.

Jim Benton is SO Great
Who doesn't love Jim Benton? Although some are inappropriate, luckily, these series are appropriate. A lot of them use the S words. AND contains stuff like alcohol, bra, guns, violence… and as far as you can imagine. By only reading this it will sound like I only gave this 1 star but no, this Catwad series are incredible! Keep up the good work!

My son couldn’t put this down!
Another great installment in this hilarious series. My 8 year old son read it cover to cover the day he received it, just like all the others. Anything that gets him to read is five stars in my book, but these are particularly loved.

Very cute short stories. Reads like a comic
My son loves these books. Even my husband and I enjoy Catwad and Blurmp and how they interact with each other. We have 1-4 and I just got Catwad: High 5 for him for Christmas!!

funny, short comic
My daughter loves these comics and they are good for travel or short trips to keep kids amused. They are full of little ironies and very amusing - for kids and adults. I am a big Farside comic fan and so this is amusing in that way as well.
