This is a Fully Functional Roman Soldier Scutum for SCA or LARP. The Shield has been constructed from 18 Gauge Mild Steel with hand painted Roman markings in red and gold. The center Boss of the shield is polished Solid Steel which is welded on by six bolts. It's very strong and sturdy. Many low price similiar items on the market are made of soft steels and the boss can be dented easily. The handle of the Scutum is metal, secured by a thick steel band. The umbo (boss) is made if 16G steel.
