So far starrett, is the only one I've found that can produce an accurate, even, undistorted (from marking the thickness on the blades) and easy to use feeler gauge all in one package. The finished quality on the edges of the ticker blades are superb. I've often found gauges that look like they where simply ground off and sent out for sale. This can cause a bit of a problem when inserting the gauge deep into something. Also the gauge body seems to be mad of the same quality steel that the blades are. The blade lock is smooth, tight fitting, dose not deform the blades and best of all it actually works like it needs to. I own two of these, and both are not 1000000% absolute dead freakn' on, but better, literally, in every way (sept price) in accuracy and quality than the $4 ones you buy at auto zone. If you are not going to use it often and for important purposes don't buy it, if you are something like a pro engine builder or a machinist I'd look into them. The only reason it got 4 stars is because of price.

First of all, don't wash off the machine oil or these carbon steel gauges will rust. The outer case is all that is stainless. Keep them oiled and they'll last a lifetime. If there is too much oil, wipe the blade with a dry rag or paper towel (preferably lint free). Reoil before storing. Spray oil like Rem Oil or CLP is fine, not WD-40.
