approx. 3 and a half by 6 and a half inches.

Can it be stored on its side without the polish knocking around?

The top compartment comes with a spongelike thing with around 28 slots to put 28 nail polish. If you have more than 28 nail polish then you can take it out and let your nail polish loose but then it cant be stored on its side without knocking around. The other 2 comparments are just open space for other things which will probably knock around when put on its side. But the drawer can fit tightly anywhere for me.

The outer body of the Frenessa Train Case is hard plastic while the frame and trim are metal. It’s a very solid little case that’s quite substantial and it holds a lot.
