Only working after modifications
Pros:- Low friction between the top, cone shaped part and the stand. The metal tip and bore are made out of some hard metal (not aluminium).Cons:- The supplied bubble level is not sensitive enough by far. Adding 100g of weight to the wheel will only move the bubble by about 2mm. I replaced it with a better one that has 0°5' resolution. Now the bubble will move even with only 5g of weight added.- I was unable to repeatably center the wheel on the cone. A friend fabricated an aluminium ring that fits precisely on the top of the balancer, and has an outer diameter exactly matching the center hole of my wheels. That solved the issue.- It seems the hole of the top part that rests on the metal tip is not exactly centered. If the cone is rotated, while the wheel is in the same orientation, the bubble will also move. This should not be the case. My solution is to make relative measurements: Place the wheel, center the bubble with the adjustment screws. Then rotate ONLY the wheel by 180°. If the wheel was balanced, the bubble should remain centered. If the bubble is not centered any more, add weights until the bubble is about half way to the center. Center the bubble again with the screws. Repeat until bubble remains centered even after 180° rotation of wheel.Overall I feel this product is too expensive for the quality and precision and the time I had to invest to make it actually working.
