Lundi the Lost Puffin: The Child Heroes of Iceland

My kids love pretty much all creatures (my younger daughter seriously tells us "I am a friend to all animals"), so I was excited to read Lundi the Lost Puffin with them. The book didn't disappoint. I immediately felt engaged in the vibrant illustrations, and I like that we learned about real-life puffins in Iceland as we read about Lundi's journey. What's more, *kids* are the other heroes in this book—a fact that wasn't lost on my own littles! Definitely recommend reading this sweet, educational book!

I learned that Lundi means "puffin" in Icelandic! As a retired third grade teacher, I would have loved to read this book to my students! I will definitely read it to my grandchildren. I liked to incorporate stories during science and social studies lessons. This beautifully illustrated children's book is fun and informative to read on its own. But it also lends itself to many thoughtful discussions from the life cycle of a puffin, what causes the pufflings to lose their way to the ocean, how children play an important role in the puffins' survival, and many others. Lundi is a book preschool children will want read over and over. They will enjoy the colorful pages and be emotionally moved by its simple, but powerful, message.

It is important for me that children know about what sourrounds them; hence this book about a Puffin. It is basic information but really needed for those who have never seen one.

Great book to get before going to Iceland for kids to learn about Puffin. Pro tip is to download the PDF first and read it to your child. My daughter insisted I read the PDF that comes with the book. And she happened to just be flipping the pages at the pictures and she figured out what was going on. Then we read it and she put two and two together. It was neat reading it this way with her. Nice pictures and cool little story.

Wonderful illustrations and a cute and interesting story. Both parents and children will like this because the book also tells a true story of a phenomenon that happens in Iceland every year. Really, really great children's book. If you are looking to educate your children some about the wider world, while also telling them a delightful little story, then this book is absolutely perfect.

My kindergartners loved this book. It gives readers a cute story of how baby puffins are handled in Iceland.

My children and I have always enjoyed visiting the Puffins in zoos and aquariums, but we'd no idea how they were raised and the challenges they faced after they are hatched in the wild. We were also unaware there is a special group of children in Iceland dedicated to rescuing them. This book with it's lovely illustrations provided a simple easy to follow story that explained the Puffins life cycle, their challenges and the helpful hands of those who are determined to give them an opportunity to thrive and enjoy their lives off the coast of Iceland. The book also provides links to other helpful resources that provide additional information about Puffin rescue. My kids and I highly recommend this book as an entree into all things Puffin!

Brilliant book for educating children about this fascinating aspect of wildlife and the effect our civilisation has on it. I learned something too even aged 40+! Would thoroughly recommend.

An educational story for children. I bought for my grand daughter and she loved it.

This is a beautiful book. It both educated and entertained with an account of wildlife that I had never heard of, and with visual art that is stunning and touching. A wonderful read for little ones.
